Oh damn! My friend just gt all of her stuff stolen, her pets punded, and neopoints drowned. I'm not even going near the trading post or the auctions, OR the boards!

I hate when this happens, luckily I was able to retreive her pets for her! It took ALOT of convincing on the other users part though.

You know why this really sucks? They don't care if they get their account frozen because they'll just steal someone else's. There's no real way to stop them because they'll just keep coming up with new codes and stealing new accounts. How can TNT still claim they've never had anyone hack into their security?

o_O How does this CG thing work? Sorry, I'm a little new to the Neopets thing (2 months) and this is the first I've heard of it...

It does sound seriously bad though. People who do this should be found and shot...

Because no one has. :)

The security on Neopets is fine, the cookie grabbers do not actually attack the Neopets servers. They steal YOUR cookies, I don't think there has been a single case where someone has actaully HACKED Neopets.

But they're still using the neopets site to steal cookies with codes. Wouldn't cheating with codes be considered hacking? And there was one time when a staff member's cookie was stolen.

I can see how that's different than finding a way to alter the entire system from the inside but shouldn't that count for something?

Thanks for warning us :) I was on the Trading Post yesterday, just looking at trades. So it only happened this morning (12 July)? In that case, I'm safe.

I'll steer clear from the Post from now on... that said, I'll steer clear of any user-customised areas :roflol:

I guess the only way TNT can ensure that no CGs could get in is take away all the text areas and make us have boring lookups and stuff. Of course, this would mean no Lookup and Site Spotlight for one. And I'm sure TNT wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by taking this away, but which one would TNT take, security of members or being able to jazz up their lookup/petpage/shop/gallery/etc?

Just my point of view :)

No.

Yes.

This is a good opportunity to bludgeon everyone here with heavy-handed advice:

Activate your PINs, if you haven't already. NOW.

Great. Neoboards too?. x_x

Wed Jul 12, 2006 5:30 pm

Oh dear. I guess that means no trading then :x

Not that I'm too desperate, but how can you delete cookies? It'd be nice if I knew how, just in case my account was CG'ed for a second time.

Wed Jul 12, 2006 5:39 pm

Ugh. I suppose I'm glad I have a pin and there's nothing very important in my shop or items...so at worst I lose a few thousand from shop till and inventory.

I'll go change my pass, though, just in case, and stay off the risky areas for a while. D:

When this happened the last time, weren't there a few people that knew how to check where supposed CGs were to see if they were actually there? Has anyone done that this time?

Just wondering about the CGs on the Neoboards. Is it going into a certain post made, or just going there in general? Does this include the Premium Neoboards too?

In Internet Explorer just go to Tools -> Internet Options and in Firefox go to Tools -> Options -> Cookies however I don't see how deleting your cookies helps. As when you log in another one is created.Well I have Norton Anti-virus so I hope I don't get affected...then again I only went on TP once today. Never go to Auctions or NeoBaords much though.

I seem to remember last time this all happened, dolphinling posted that changing your PW should do the trick. I don't think deleting the cookies will help: you have one whenever you're logged in, and deleting your cookies doesn't delete the one they've stolen, which is what lets them on your account. Changing you password will invalidate the cookie they've stolen. I think you can even just alternate between two passwords -- IIRC dolphinling posted that just "changing" to the same password over again should work, but suggested actually changing to stay on the safe side.

(I was hoping we'd hear from dolphingling here...)

How does HTML work on the Neoboards? Formatting is in neoHTML, isn't it? All the square brackets instead of the triangular ones.
