Japanese Universities are hard to get into, especially for someone foreign. You're better off going to a local university.

Basis your teritary education on watching anime probably won't work.

Sorry.

Especially Naruto. You won't learn ninjustu.

In fact, you do not want to ever go into the Japanese education system ever, and this is serious. Unless of course you are already fluent in Japanese and have a masochistic desire. Essentially getting into a good Japanese university is impossible. The anime should tell you that much. However once in, it is party time.

Japanese Universities aren't academically acredited either. They're picky about who they let in but the education from the universities themselves are subpar and I doubt a lot of foreign workplaces would take someone who has a degreee from a Japanese University.
P.S. Anime does not teach you about Japan. There is a population problem in Japan. You would have to live in an apartment and their metro system can be quite complex. You are better off staying where you are.

That is a good thing. You should use anime to point you to topics in Japanese culture to study. I used to see references to Shinto mythology in anime that I didn't get. A few years, many books, many more websites later, I know far more about Shinto mythology than I thought I could. Before watching too many series, you should spend several hours, if not days, trying to immerse yourself in the culture as much as a baka gaijin can from thousands of kilometers away and don't stop learning. Catch 22: No matter how much you know, you will never fit in because you're not a native.

I'm heading out that way next spring, and I know I'm not and won't be ready by the time I get there. I'm just hoping that I will look like such a fool that will excuse my poor behavior.

A few ways real Japan differs from Naruto Japan:

-You don't see it in the anime, but there is hardly any air conditioning anywhere... and it gets HOT.
-Living space is tight, and you're not living in a cottage in a village in the woods or something.
-After school, you get to play the role of janitor and clean the campus with everyone else.
-Although Naruto and his colleagues can walk for miles without getting tired, you'll be put to the test. :P
-If you're above 6'0", you'll probably stand out. People don't directly stare at you, but you know they're watching from the corners of their eyes. :P I guess Naruto didn't have that problem because he was, well, short. But he was blonde, so I guess those two cancel each other out.

Are you heading out just for vacation or are you going to move there?

If i went to a japanese university i would live in japan, thats why i wanted to go to their college because i thought it would give me better luck finding a job there.

I will only be in Japan for a couple days. It is part of my schools Cal Poly at Sea program. It is just one of many stops in the region. I am also planning a vacation over there after graduation since my grandmother has been wanting to send me to Japan for the longest time, and I would prefer after I'm done with school. Lastly, I am also looking into a program where I would come over to Japan to teach for a few years. I have a friend that moved there after a few rounds of doing that, and she is willing to help me as much as she can in case I don't get in right away. All of those should be fun. You should look into programs like that in your school or town or anywhere!

There's one in my school. :P It was actually free until a year ago, where they made you pay for airfare.

Don't worry, everyone grows out of their fixation with japan.

Why would you want to go to a country that

A) Has an unhealthy obsession with schoolgirls
B) Has to have gender segregated carriages on trains because of the groping problem
C) Is chronically over populated
D) Is mental

We're talking about Japan here. Not America

America doesn't have an overpopulation problem. Japan does because it's an island and there is not a lot of free space so the only way to go is up and hence why so many people live in apartments.
