MySpace: Fun for friends? Or evil tool of the devil?

#1 Post by jxpop »

Hi guys

I'm coming off a neopets/ppt hiatus, so if there's a thread like this already, please lock this thread almighty mod-of-creation ^_^

Anyway, MySpace.

Fun for friends? Or evil tool of the devil?

Personally, I think it's the latter. There's only so many self-portraits (edited to make one's self seem more emotionally-vulnerable than necessary) I can see before I start wondering if we as a human race are doomed. Thusly, I deleted mine.

I fail to see how it's a tool of the "devil".

Nah, only the human teenage race is doomed (for about 5 years, then they grow up). After about five years, they get a life, move on, and stop the self-pity act. Tool of the devil? Please. Anyone can find anything to be a tool of the devil (even Harry Potter for crying out loud). But, no, I won't go so far as to say that.

If people know how to use them without trying to plaster their half-nude bodies all over the internet, then let them (heck, even if they do, good for them). Some people use it to get pity, some even give online stalkers some leverage. Heck, I'll even go as far as to say I really don't like MySpace, but, well, I know the difference between my dislike and reality. Many people know how to use them, many don't. Same goes with just about everything else on the face of this planet.

So, I have no qualm, but you won't find me using it anytime soon.

Me: Ah, MySpace, the great void where time is sucked in.
My sister: But it's FUN!!! And it's either this or scrapbooking.

MySpace is a giant waste of time. I spend hours on it...doing NOTHING useful. It's great. Teenagers have too much spare time anyway.

Nah, I've managed to get in touch with friends I've not seen in like 6 ot 7 years. I really enjoy searching through the music and comedy sections.

I recently moved away from all of my friends, so I started a MySpace account, and since then I have been able to get in contact with nearly 20 of my good friends. I wouldn't say that I <3 MySpace, but I certainly am not among the crowd that hates it.

Uh...I'm going with the latter.

It sucks. I don't care who's got one. It's overrated, and it doesn't like my computer. Which works out well, seeing as I don't like it.
The only MySpaces I visit are the ones for Jacobs Theory and Family Force 5. But, FF5's goes a splode everytime I try and visit it.

Meh. I haven't actually looked at it all that much, but from what I've seen I prefer my xanga. I've only got a couple friends with myspace anyway. I personally think it's really overrated.

Eh, I made one to keep in touch with a friend, and have added all my friends as they've gotten them. I don't like having bands as friends though, if I could put all the bands towards the back of my friends view instead of having them strung throughout my friends list. I don't have any idea how random people find me but they do... I got three friends requests in the span of two minutes.

If it was a choice of one or the other, it would be an evil tool of the devil.
