I have a Windows XP Computer, any software that may be required and a CD-RW drive, and was wondering if there was anyway to combine these to create a Windows XP Boot CD (I don't have a floppy drive or the original boot CD...)

Yeah...

Any help?

That actually requires a floppy disk drive, which my computer lacks...

Well, that then beckons the question can I boot from a USB floppy drive? I would love the answer to be yes, because that then requires going out to pay £5 than £140... Yah.

Cheers Anyways!

I don't think so... never heard that you could do that.

Damnit, it says in some places that it's CD but it appears to be a floppy disk one anyway...

Try this http://old.bink.nu/xpbootcd/

Or this: http://www.help2go.com/Tutorials/Window ... ue_CD.html

This is going to start to sound as though I'm being really awkward, so, sorry about this.

The first one tells you to extract your ISO image, giving two programmes which (I think) need the CD to work. The second one is the same - if I had the Windows XP CD, I could use that, but I have a funny feeling this might not take off...

This is one of the handiest tools I've seen in a long time. BartPE helps you to create a Windows XP boot CD that looks and feels just like Windows. Forget your old DOS boot disks and other rescue CDs -- this is the best rescue tool I've used for getting rid of viruses and ad-ware. This tutorial will show you how to create your own Windows Boot CD with BartPE -- and all you need is your Windows XP CD, and a CD-R drive.

Is it a virus or spyware that you're trying to get rid of?

Err... No... It's Linux :P

I accidentally deleted my Windows OS through a long and complicated story, and installed Linux but couldnae get my wireless networking to work, so instead I'm looking for a WIndows installation CD to re-install Windows on it.

You could always download an Xp torrent. That usually works. If you have to have a CD to do it, you can always create a virtual drive. It makes the computer think that you have the disk in the drive, even if you don't. It is an extremely good way to access ISO files, and to bypass games that have a CD requirement. One good program to do that is Alcohol, but there are many programs out there that can mount files for you. I have never tried to do it to switch OS, but it might work.

Finding your old disk or repair disk for your particular computer would be the best thing, although have you tried looking for the drivers for your wireless dongle or card? Linux is pretty good if you can get it working.

http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_Tourrilhes/Linux/ and http://www.lesbell.com.au/Home.nsf/0/4a ... enDocument give more info on setting up linux wireless networks.

Dunno if this helps or not, but when I bought my computer, they gave me a floppy disk that could "restore my computer to factory condition" (Basically reinstalls windows), and I used that on a usb floppy drive, and it worked fine *wanders away*
