R.I.P. Steve Irwin

My first thoughts were Crikey Steve Irwin is dead?

But I can't say that I am surprised seeing as we did see him taunt the animals whilst talking about them (including a crocodile which he taunted it with a stick.) so we knew that one day that karma would catch up to him and he would get killed by a animal though we didn't know which one it would be.

Don't take the above the wrong way as the above is what made him famous even though it sounds like I am coming down on him I am actually not coming down on him as I was looking at the facts and like ahoteinrun said he did a lot of good for the environment, for wildlife, and to be honest, for protecting Australia.

So though it may not sound like it my thoughts honestly do go out to him and his family though he did die doing what he loved even though he was so young.

R.I.P Steve Irwin.
We will all miss you.

That's what I thought. It's very strange to hear about. When I was little, I always sort of thought he was invincible or something, because the things he could get away with without getting killed were simply amazing.

At least he died the way he lived, messing around with animals no rational person would go near.

This makes me feel bad about all the times I laughed at him and called him stupid. I remember specifically this one time, when he was talking about a snake he had crawling around on his back and shoulders, and the snake made an unexpected move, and his eyes darted over to its head.

I'll miss him though. He always made people like me look sane.

I heard this on the radio earlier today. My first though was just, wow. It took a while for it all to sink in.

R.I.P Steve

and I send my heart out to his family.

And as many people have said before, I guess it is a good thing that he died doing what he loved.

I was shocked when I heard this. At first when I heard it, I thought it was just a rumor and didn't think much of it, but now that I saw this thread I've been thinking about it all day. I used to watch his shows a lot, and I thought what he was doing was great. I feel so sorry for his family.

Can't say it's surprising. The dude spent the last couple of decades annoying dangerous animals.

Should have left the stingray alone really- they only attack when threatened.

It's still sad though, as is any death. He seemed invincible

When i lived in Australia ( Brisbane ) I once went to Australia Zoo and actually met him , he really is a facinating man , And i was also in a lift with His wife in a museum , she was holding a little kangaroo . " If you play with fire your gonna get burned " ,That pretty much sums up the situation .

I'm shocked too. My dad called me to the TV and wow..He wasn't the brightest man (remember his kid and the crocodile thing?) but his heart was in the right spot. I hope his family continues to work with animals. I just keep thinking his wife must be traumatized.

Its strange how the news haven't actually sunk in. He was always believed to be invincible and he stood up for what he believed. Its strange I expect to open the TV and still see him there, still doing what he did best. Huge loss for the world because he did so much and could have done so much more.

Steve wasn't even touching the stingray. It was in the sand. He swam over it, didn't know it was there and it spooked and thwacked him in the chest.
So. Lets see. Statistically, anyone swimming could be hit by something like that in an area where there are stingrays. How many people go swimming off the coast of Aus every year? I dont' find it fair to blame him for a freak accident.
