A few weeks ago a got a warning saying that I was posting link to off site web pages on the Neopets boards. I have no idea where they got this from, I have never posted a link on the boards. I emailed them a couple of times with no response. It wouldn't bother me except for the fact that I already have 3 other warnings (those I admit I did but on accident).

I was thinking that it might have been when I told someone that the link to my guild webbie was back up. But this doesn't make much sense because guild webbies are allowed. I have the webbie down for now just in case that was the problem.

Anyone have a suggestion about why this happened and what to do?

Only suggestion I could give is to STOP posting on Neoboards. Stick to off site chat like PPT.

Ya, I have decided to do that already. I was only using them for my guild and to help people on their quests but I guess I can't. All of my warning have come from those evil boards.

Me too! I hate the Neoboards.

Top five reasons to avoid the Neoboards:

5. The minute you post you can expect at least four begging neomails asking for your pets, paintbrushes, and all the np in your bank account.

4. My pet wants to date your pet. and What pet's feet do you like the best? I wish I were kidding.

3. It's always creepy when adults and young children get together in a place where no one can tell which is which. You know I'm right!

2. Warnings/Being frozen. Maybe this should be at the number one slot. You may think you can control yourself, but under the right circumstances you may be surprized what you will post. 2/3 warnings I ever received were on the Neoboards, not that I did anything wrong, misunderstandings will happen on the Neoboards.

1. Have you been to the neoboards? The people there are almost all annoying to the extreme. Example: Wer is the secret faerie bank??????? I hrd i cld git np fur freeeee. Pls answr mi n0w! Cume to mi shup, bai vrythn. ***-{Huggles}-*** Seriously, why would you go there when you can come here and just bypass that whole tar pit?

This is all the reason I need to avoid the Neoboards. *shudders*
Plus, there are waaaay too many people that are report-happy. I've seen people get "reported" just for asking an honest (and decently intelligent) question.

Well if you posted a link to an off-site guild website, and you got a warning for posting an off-site link, I don't see where the confusion comes in? While guild websites may be allowed, they might not approve of the link being posted on the neoboards but prefer that you keep it to the guild messageboards/guild info page where it'll only reach those to whom it's relevant.

Idk, perhaps this is is just one of those things they haven't explained very well what's okay and what's not about, orrrrrr they simply didn't check where the link lead and sent the warning thinking you'd linked to some random website. Maybe try submitting a question asking for a clarification on the rules of off-site guild websites and where you can link to them?

TNT can be really wishy-washy about what rules to really enforce and when to enforce them. For instance, sometime after I started my guild the news page declared that all guild contests were against the rules. My guild switched to giveaways instead, as we never took part in the raffle ticket stuff. Then a couple of months later they did a guild spotlight and that guild had a raffle contest blatantly advertised on their front page. Then sometime after that, they made guild giveaways against the rules too, which IMO is ridiculous.

I'd agree with that, Catgrl. I also think they need mor FAQs than they currently have. For example, I went to the Beauty Contest FAQ. It does not state in the FAQ that you should only enter on your main account. Most people do not read the editorials. Some people may realise that the Beauty Contest counts as trying to earn NP, but some people may honestly want to enter pets on side accounts and not realise that they're doing something wrong.

I am certain that if they had more clear concise FAQs, then there would be a LOT fewer people complaining about being unfairly frozen/warned.

I seriously didn't understand once when my message was blocked and I got a warning. Shouldn't a block be good enough, instead of warning twice?

I would've not said what I did if I knew it wasn't allowed.

You are SO right! I have a lot of friends who have started playing Neopets and gave up because there were so many aspects of the game that they couldn't figure out. For instance, I had to explain to my sister who is a grown woman and has played Neopets for years what an avatar is. AND her boyfriend quit playing Neo after only a few months because he could not figure out how to get better stats for his pet. He tried really hard too. When I showed him Coltzan's shrine and explained it to him I thought he was going to cry with frustration. They really need to update the FAQs big time! Not just about rules.

Honestly, there are so many things a person should figure out through game knowledge/common sense/reading the site/asking friends/fansites. We really only need FAQs for rules. After all, the editorial is considered an FAQ for everything else.

There are petpages such as http://www.neopets.com/~atheneum that collect the very most common questions that were answered in the editorial. I suggest that if you are trying to help people around the site, you find a few links such as these (google is your friend) and direct them to these links for reading.

Well, I can't speak for myself because I figured out a lot by just playing, but not everyone is as resourcful as I am. Thanks for the link. I love helpful petpages!

I don't think administrators of a game website that is as large as neopets should act based on the assumption that users will go to fan sites for information. I think all rules should be explained in as clear and concise a manner as possible. If you look at the number of editorial questions that inquire about whether actions are freezable, clearly there are a lot of confused people.

The neoboards are like a negative vortex of intelligence. When I try to read the boards the stupidity level is so high I can actually feel my IQ dropping just from being there. *shudder* it's scary.

As for the confusing rules and not understanding warnings and freezing, I definitely agree! I don't know why they have so many crazy rules anyway. You can't do this, you can't do that. It makes me almost afraid to do anything! It's insane.
