Test For You Pros! I'm New 2 the forums/semi-new 2 the game

Alright everyone I have a real test for you guys today. See how you can do!!!
So, I have been playing for a while and have gotten the hang of some of the stuff around neopets, but have a couple questions that not all related.
First is battledome related. I know there is a battledome thread, but I visited there and was lost in all the stuff that was being talked about so I figured the newbie forum was the best to post in. here are the stats of my boring gelert:

Colour : Yellow
Gender : Female
Age : 104 days
Level : 10
Hp : 16 / 16
Health : 16/ 16
Mood : delighted!
Hunger : full up
Strength : immense (16)
Defence : very heavy (13)
Move : speedy (10)

Genie Orb
Mud Mixture x3
Gelert Helm
Gelert Flying Disc Attack
Liquid Goo

Abilities:
Magic Torch (1)

I have beaten that stupid clown and the pant devil thats about it. So I have some questions:
-What stats should I improve?
-What items should I be using?
-What abilities should I be using?
-How do I level abilities?
-What are some good strategies for battling?
That's about it concerning the battledome.
The appearance (sp) of my gelert is boring. I don't have a Ton of money around 300,000, but I need to do something different because although she looks happy, she needs a new look. Any suggestions on what to do and how to do it?
I am staying up to date with the plot, and have a couple of questions about that as well:
-How long does the average plot last?
-Will I have to battle anything in the Plot?
-Everytime there is a new part of the comic is there a new set of actions to take?
-What kind of results come from the plot?
Far from that I only have a couple more questions. I have a tenna as a petpet, but its the wrong color and actually quite boring. Any suggestions as to a better match for my gelert. I have all the pieces to the petpet lab ray, but then realized I need the regular lab ray pieces as well. What would be the easiest way to get the lab ray pieces? I do my dailies, play about 10-15 games a day, have a small shop with a couple of items being bought a day; is there there anything else I should be doing as well?

Wow a lot of questions there, but to get the best answers I suggest asking BD questions in the BD section, plot stuff in the plot board in general chat etc.
I'm sure some people (not me cos I suck
) could help you here, but for the best advice (and it IS good), make seperate topics in each appropriate section
