I've been playing since 2000; I started during the summer after my first year of university. I had a boring library job teaching people how to use the Internet, but not that many people actually needed my help, so I spent a lot of time playing Neo (and watching the Big Brother 1 live video feeds ;)). I stopped playing for about a year and a half after going back to school in the fall, but then I got an overnight reception/security job at my university and started playing again while at the desk, because there wasn't much else to do all night. There was more good content on the site by then, and I got hooked.

Neopets is a nice distraction for me. I don't have the best attention span, so I play flash games to keep myself busy while I watch TV or talk on the phone, and the plots and puzzles entertain me when I'm bored. I play less often when I have a job, and I don't play at all when I'm on vacation, but I can't imagine quitting for good. I've gotten really into the Battledome, World Challenges, Food Club and (recently) the stock market. Sometimes I do get disproportionately angry when I'm losing at WCs or Food Club is sucking or I'm having trouble with a step in a plot, but in that case I just go away for a half hour or so and then I'm fine. ;)

I'm on my final high school year, and around last month I came back to Neo after several months of semi-hiatus. Basically for 7-8 months I only checked the site a couple of times a week, zapped my pet, looked at the news, nothing much. There just wasn't anything I wanted to do after beating NQ. The Altador plot made me come back for a spell, then there were holidays...
Now I think I've pretty much gone back, I do the dailies again, I wait for the news eagerly and I still jump into that stupid Symol hole every single day :P
I don't want to stop playing Neopets forever. If I lose interest again, I'll probably get into it again later. Unless big changes are made to the game, but with such a huge site it's hard that it'll happen.

I quit ages ago when my RP guild died, and my account became too many painful memories for me to want to keep playing. It was hard for me at first, since I'd invested so much time in my pets and my gallery, but once I stopped going to the site it just fell out of my daily routine.

Lately, however, I've left my old online self behind and changed my name for everything, because I met some really nasty people and was nasty to some people who didn't deserve it and I wanted a clean slate. Maybe I'll start up with Neopets again.

So pay the price and close your eyes and play the game then I'll make you cry...

*looks around at college and uni players* Hhmmm, I must be the elder statesman, eh? :P Anyone who knows me on here (or from Neo) knows that I am OLD! 49, OMG, I am 49? Where'd the time go? *lol*

I have been playing for close to 4 years now. I have quit on many occasions--usually when I was really mad at Neopets--for glitches that stole many a neopoint, for unjustified freezings of family members, for the lack of customer support. But, I have always come back. And you know why? Cause I missed killing those darn chia clowns. The game is worse than any addiction I have ever encountered. For me, it is like going to Disneyworld. But so much cheaper. And, frankly, it is much cheaper than any of my other vices. Some people are shopaholics, eat-aholics, gamblers, alcoholics, chain smokers. My vice is Neopets. Better that I gamble virtual neopoints than real money. Better that I spend my time playing this game than doing things that could be so much worse for me. And, if you think about it, at least for those old folks like me, it is good for the brain. Anyone who is successful at anything in the game--the games, their shop, the avs, the battledome, even running a guild--uses a lot of skills to do so. It may seem like "just a game," but it does require a person to use logic, reasoning, business savvy, fine motor skills, to name a few. In other words, playing the game uses brain cells that would instead lie dormant watching some mindless soap or reality TV show. And when you are my age, it is good to keep the brain cells working. Ha!

I doubt that I will ever quit Neopets. I have survived some of the nastiest glitches on earth, moaned and groaned (you old-timers will undoubtedly remember) and yet I am still here. My biggest fear is that someday I will wake up and it will just be gone--forever. '

And Duke, I remember when you got frozen. My heart broke for you. Because it just wasn't fair. ((hugs)) Oh, and, just for the record, I know lots of people from the male persuasion, long-time players, who play Neo, including my husband. You are definitely not alone, trust me.

I left Neopets once, for something like seven months. This was wayyy back when, back in the stone ages(well, the Stone Paint Brush ages anyway), late 2001 and early 2002. It just wasn't that interesting to me at the time. When I did come back, I still wasn't too into the game. There were times when I was simply collecting dailies. I'm not a big gamer, not with my computer and my gaming ability in the state they're in, so having so few points with inflation really going crazy then, I just felt like there wasn't much for me to do on the site. What really got me into the game was earning tons of Neopoints with minimal effort, using the stock market. I had points to burn, so I started setting goals to keep myself interested. Right now, I spend a lot more time on than I used to, simply because I have a lot of time to waste. I completed the Altador Plot when I got bored a few weeks back; it was the first plot I'd ever actually completed.

Everybody's stories sound so familiar. I began playing in early 2001 as a college freshman and quickly became very addicted. After about six months of hard work I got frozen. I did create a new account, but was so mad that I quit neopets.

I didn't play for nearly two years. When I found my password while cleaning out my desk I decided to check in. I discovered avatars and was hooked, again becoming addicted. By this time I had a few friends and a little brother who were also addicted. It's funny that no one would admit to playing, but we eventually confessed.

I stopped playing for awhile after I got a full-time job.

Then I was put on bedrest and became addicted again, only to get upset about the water plant from the plot (which I still cannot solve despite trying every combination twice or more).

And that brings me to today. I sneak in a few times per week to work on the plot, but don't have time for much else. Hope you enjoyed my neopets life-story. :)

I started... oh, way way way back.
Let's just say that I remember Theme Parks. And the Unicorn Paint Brush. And the Macy Gray and the original Bruce...
*shudders* Wow, was it that long ago?

Anway, I played sporadically because of my shoddy internet connection. It got so that I hated being online SO much (when you load one page in about 25 minutes, you hate the WORLD) that I quit... plus, flash games took almost a day to load (crappy computer + crappy internet = :x )

Then I moved in with my hubby when I started college and we got high spped internet, and that's when I got going again. It had been so long that I had to make a new name and everything (though I finally got into my old account, cleared it, and self-froze).

I've been scammed, I've been glitched... so much has happened but I keep coming back because, like everybody else, I've put effort into it and it's a much better vice than others. Plus, I'm running out of places to visit on the internet, hehe, and Neopets just makes me happy. Sure, there's been months where I disappeared due to stress and such, but always came back. I finally (yeah, me an over-6 year player) was able to do some awesome things with my account, so I'm back and with a vengence :)

A lot of people say "hey it's just pixels". But really, you have reason to get mad or disappointed or frustrated when things go wrong. It's not just pixels, it's your time and your effort that you've put into something. And for every low point, I try to think of the high points I've reached, and it's kept me here :)

Haha, I was there for that too. Remember the Fuzio? heh. And the original Game Cupboard! *le sigh* I think they put my art on their frontpage way back then too.

Ohhh the game cupboard. There was the game meadow, too, back when gormball was first released.
Heh, the Fuzio was awesome.

Not any more :D

I've been playing neo for a couple of years now. I sorta quite around two years ago but then I came back because I ran out of things to idle my time with. That, and all the wars/plots that I've steeped myself in and waited like a drooling puppy for. That's practically what I do on neopets. Plots. And dailies, when I'm not feeling lazy. Yeah, and I agree--neo is a great distraction from midterms, whether that's really a good thing or not =/

Ive never said to myself "Ok, Im going to stop playing now and go on hiatus" because that'd never work. There are just times when my interest dwindles. Just recently I wasnt interested in anything but feeding kadoaties. Now thats boring, so I moved on to collecting items and training my pet. A few months ago, I was playing games and making NP like crazy. Before that, I didnt do anything but collect dailies when I remembered.

I did miss the Curse of Maraqua stuff for lack of a computer, so I guess for three months, I was on a mandatory break. I was really upset about that too. When I finally had a chance to go to the library, I found out that choosing sides for the war had just closed the day before :( I felt so left out. Thats another reason Im reluctant to leave Neo. I like to involve myself in anything thats currently going on. I even collect all my past plot info and screenshots in folders, just to remember.

Im never very busy though, and even during high school, I'd put off assignments to play Neopets. It didnt hurt my grades or anything, so luckily it never mattered if my priorities were messed up.

I have never "stopped" neopets. I do slow down on occasion. It comes and goes, ya know? Kinda depends on what's happening in my life at the time.

I'm 47...and a neoaddict. I think I always will be.

God lives in Neopia, too!

I've taken a break from neopets. Some day I may go back into it, but a mental barrier prevents me from getting too involved. I'm afraid though if I do get involved it'll become my obsession and I don't want that to happen again.

I do log in ever so often, though not my main account as much. Some time I hope to try for the AG again. My passion for art still hasn't returned.
