This is one of those questions that always interests me. It's easy to forget a time without computers everywhere, but almost all of us were alive before computers and the internet were even remotely commonplace.

We've had a computer in the house pretty much my whole life, but that was pretty unusual at the time. My parents work with computers and have since back when computers were pretty much considered an odd little novelty that would never go anywhere. Because of that, I was a computer addict from early on. I can remember having to ask my sister what the clues in Treasure Mountain said because I couldn't read yet. :P I think we got the internet in the house in about 1990/91, but I was about 7 before I spent much time online.

When'd your family get a computer? The internet?

This is going to date me.
The early eighties? I was just a kid. I remember drawing on it and printing stuff off (mainly orcas for some reason) in the early eighties.
It was a black/white computer that cost my dad a small fortune at the time. Mom only let him keep it because he gave up smoking (and thusly teh money from his ciggarettes became the computer, and then his electronic obsession).
First internet? 96.

We got our first computer (a Mac) when I was two and my mom was in law school. When I was four, we moved and got our first PC. We always had internet on it, but I didn't start going online until I was about seven. It's now approx. 12 years old and living in my room, and all it does is MS Word and Solitaire. About seven years ago we got a Dell, which is now mine and the computer I'm typing this on (I wub her so, despite her age <3). A year or so ago, my mom got a new Mac, which is the family computer and which I never use 'cause I can't stand it.

Basically, we have three computers in my house and two of them are mine. :D

I remember my first experience on a computer, was on my uncles Mac in 1997 and I used to use Photoshop ^^

My first Computer game was an archaeology one on the school Acorn - best game :D

Our first computer was purchased in 1998 and internet followed soon after :)

The elementry school I went to got the internet sometime in the early to mid 90's. We had a computer about that time (hooray for Windows 3.1), but we didn't get the internet at home a few years later (late 90's ~ish).

I can't remember when we got our first computer, but we got the Internet in 1999. I used to play Monopoly online all the time. And there was only one computer, so my family had to all share it. We all have our own computers now.

I'm still finding it hard to believe I was only 9...

I think we've had a family computer since I was born. I do remember one time, a friend was going to let me borrow a computer game when I in kindergarden, but I couldn't because we didn't have a CD-rom drive or Windows. A little later we got Windows and sometime after that internet (late 90's maybe?).

Got my first computer at like 6 (windows 95, pentium 1.33) started going on the internet at about 11. I started late but my family are absolutly ignorant about internet so I had to discover it myself. I don't even know how i came across msn or online communities. I am quite happy i did though, changed my life entirly.

We've had a computer since the early 1990s. We got our first (horrendous dial-up) connection in the late 1990s.

Being born in the early 90's, there was a computer in the house before I was born. I was in pre-school when we got dial-up, but I didnt care for the internet. I played games on it. When we switched to Macs, the only game we had on it was the sims, which I played like all the time. By the time I was on the internet (my sister showed me neopets) we had something better than dial-up...which I dont know what it was.

I believe there was a computer in the house either before I was born or shortly after. I know my dad had an IBM and two Apples ( a IIe and some other one). I sorta remember the IIe from home movies, and apparently I learned my ABC's on it. Now I know why I love computers so much. :P

As for internet, eh, probably '95-'95 (dialup obviously), when we moved from Arizona to Texas. We also got a new computer at that time. It was an AST, and it had two hard drives. One was 1 GB and the other 2 GB (they weren't partitioned, it was literally two hard drives). And it ran Windows 95 obviously.

Then in '99-'00 (after we move up to Austin) my dad bought a Dell, and this was when Dells were really starting to take off. At the time it was a gaming computer with 128-256 MB of RAM. We still have it, and it runs great.

My mom's been using computers since the very first Mac came out, so we've had computers in the house all throughout my life. I'm not sure when we first got internet, but it was maybe early to mid 90s, I'm guessing.

can't find the sig from this set, so instead, you get a <3 .

No idea. I used those bloody apple thingies to play civilization I, before that something running on the huge black floppies to play a game where you use a bird to crap on cars to blow them up. That was when I was like 5.

I believe it was around 2000 or 2001. I don't think it was before that, but I may be mistaken. We got internet at the same time. =D

My firsts experience with keyboards* was probably in 2nd or 3rd grade when they were teaching us how to type. Or, when I was even younger and visiting my mom's friend's house -- she had a computer and this game with a little puppy that I loved to play. And internet... probably 4th? I remember going to a Pooh site and also a games site that had a load of games, but I really only liked a game that had a squirrel in it. o-o

EDIT: *Computers. Sorry. XP
