I also went the wrong way at first, managed to find the books with 3 HP left on my first try. Phew.
Thank god work has cable, I can't imagine attempting to do that in dial up... I think it'd be about time for me to retire by the time I got it finished!
EDIT: as far as Reginald coming into the plot, maybe this would be a good time. Seeing as we've been looking for books and all. I can see part of his curse meaning that he takes everything he reads in and so has to constantly find new things... maybe he stole the books?

Try adding a combo of them, or more than one of one type.
if this doesnt work, try ditching some no. 5s, i found that they were what held me up.

OK, THIS IS WHAT YOU DO! go collect all 30 of your vines....
then go to the clearing. once you're there, discard all but your first stack of six in recognizable piles....
Once you have only your first six in inventory, click on the clearing. If it tells you that your rope isn't strong enough, then you need to discard that stack and pick up the next six. Continue doing this until it tells you that your rope isn't LONG enough. Once you get that message, pick up one from another stack and click on the clearing again. If it tells you it isn't long enough, pick up another one from the same stack. Keep doing this until it tells you that it isn't strong enough. Once you get that message, put the last vine you picked up back on the ground and move to the next stack and pick one up....
THIS WORKS! and it's fast.

No. The books will be inside the maze regardless of what item it's asking you to find at the begining be it Ergy Paste, Grackle Trap, The Stuff or whatever.
Which is different than what they did in the old Mystery Island plot where you had to refresh that page until a specific item came.

I'm one of the few people who apparantly kind of likes Fetch!
But then, I'd never played HARD until last night. Good Lord.... I went through the entire thing twice before I realized I had to visit the Game Graveyard first to trigger the books.
Luckily, I somehow managed to grab them the first try after that, with about 1/3 of my points left.
Relatively, this was a nice, easy (albeit tedious) step. I'm hoping all of the Wednesday ones remain this way; with school, it's just too hard to find the time to humor this plot.
Edit: Grammar and spelling. Grah.

Ah well, TNT seems to be doing pretty well since the weekend DATABASE ISSUES!!11two!. I think they're doing a good job trying to keep it up and unglitchy, no?

I did the same thing - forgetting to go to the caretaker - and before I went I lost twice and won once (518 NP!). I was in the middle of my 4th game when I went to the caretaker, and my item, which I had managed to spot just previously, changed to books when I opened up a new window, and was easy to get to.

I'm quite disappointed by this step. I mean I finished it pretty quickly. I love the art on this comic though. Do they have a new artist? Ilere is drawn really well and I love Sophie's character and expressions!

Maybe this step was easier because it was released on a wednesday and most people have to go to school/work and don't have much time fpr neo.
It would be nice if tnt releases the bigger steps during the weekend

Fetch is...evil. I can't believe TNT has this as a game you can volutarily play for fun just on a general basis.

Well, it seems like TNT is making us playing games here and there in this plot to advance....I hope they will not make us play a game that I'm terrible at! (crossing my fingers...touch wood....etc)

Yey! I made sense, I'm so proud of me!
I only noticed because I was having a look at the non flash version of the comic and re-read the prologue... boredom does have a purpose!
I am enjoying the regularness of the updates though, makes a nice change from altador!

I have to agree, that is actually a possablility and makes perfect sense . . . I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
As fr this step being 'easy', it would make a lot more sense to have this directly after the huge update on Friday - that was manic.
