In pirate lore, there is an area of the sea known as the "Maraquan Circle." In the Maraquan Circle, it is rumoured that storms arrive out of nowhere, navigation equipment doesn't work correctly, and ships vanish without a trace.

The Maraquan Circle is between Mystery Island, Krawk Island, and Maraqua. It should be noted that Mystery Island and Krawk Island are 240 kilometres apart, Krawk Island and Maraqua are 330 kilometres apart, and Mystery Island and Maraqua are 270 kilometres apart. The Maraquan Circle, according to legend, is defined as the largest possible circle that fits entirely within the triangle formed by those three islands.

What is the area of the Maraquan Circle, in square kilometres? Please round to the nearest hundred, and please only submit a number! (For example, if the answer is 5176 square kilometres, only submit the number "5200".) Submitting any information other than a number may result in your submission being marked wrong!

Seems easy, but I could be wrong.

It is indeed easy.

HINT: Simple trigonometry and the help of google.

As a friend said, "This is gonna lower the price the stamp massively."

Probably, hope I got it in time to get the trophy or the stamp, and everyone on the Neoboards seems to know, but they submitted a bit late.

HINT: Sum of all the numbers is between 8-12, if I gave the exact total of the digits, it would be too easy.

I rushed a little (I was watching LOST at the same time), but the sum of the digits in my answer is not between 8 and 12...

Unfortunately I am not sure if I am right or not, but that is what I and all the folks at the Neoboards are thinking. Did you round to the nearest hundred?

Apparently, the sum of the digits in my answer are between 8-12...

Once the answers are released, and I do get the right answer, I'll post up how to do it.

Err...the area of triangles, and value of a certain angle in a triangle? At least that's what I did.
It's also between 8 & 12....

My answer ended in "00." Did anyone else's?

(Sorry, couldn't resist). Unfortunately, I doubt I was top 250. I now have class Wed. nights, so it looks like I'll be missing out on the good prizes, unless it's posted after 6 NST. The sum of my digits was also between 8 and 12.

In my opinion, those "hints" actually give the answer away. :(

The idea is to give hints to help/confirm, but not to actually give the steps needed to solve the problem.

Wait until you see the Neoboards.

I don't care so much about the NP values, just the trophy. But extra NP are good.

I hope they didn't plan on us noticing that. Maybe they just assume we know that they should all be at the same elevation. o_O
