I quite agree that other traits of a pet should be focussed on as well, but people tend to concentrate on training BD stats, and I'd think TNT would want to appeal to these people. ><

Yes but there are also people who concentrate on reading books to their pets, etc. Now as far as book reading goes, you can get a trophy if you read an outstanding amount of books to your pets, but only if you can beat out the previous high scores...which is understandable. But there are no plots that involve that trait...now I can see how it would be much more difficult to infuse that particular trait into a plot, but wouldn't that be more creative? I understand the necessity of war plots, and I'm sure they are fun. In fact I'd probably enjoy them more if I had a battle pet (I can't WAIT for December when I can adopt mine and start training him more...-.-). But I think TNT should broaden the spectrum to appeal to the other masses as well.

EDIT: Also...First to Post...and...you locked the topic while I was typing my response...I almost lost my message.

I'm in favour of incorporating other traits, really. :) It's just that it's much easier to train BD, because below level 250, all you have to worry about is which of the 10 codestones, or how many dubloons, you need. With books, you need to know which books you've read and go source new ones out, rarer ones of which may get pricier and pricier as your list expands. Thing is, once you reach the top you tend to have this monopoly. Someone beats you out, you beat them back. At least, I'd imagine something like that would occur. Does it?

From what I see (with reference to this other thread on the General Chat board, talking about frozen accounts,), I think TNT would try to appeal to as large an audience as possible. Fewer people will concentrate on reading books. If I were a person who trained BD extensively, but not intelligence, I wouldn't be very motivated to work that hard, and thus lose interest in the plot. TNT, being the way it is, would likely want to hold on to as many people as possible.

But I do agree intelligence and book scores really deserve greater mention and recognition. BDers get to shine in these wars, smart pets should be given a chance, too. I just think it won't be likely that such an opportunity will be presented soon. Maybe if we yelled louder?

There is nothing new to do right now. We just have to wait.

Aye but there's the rub. Those of us who are not BDers lose interest in a plot that we cannot particpate in (or, really, cannot participate on the same level as large scale BDers). Or at least, we feel cheated, despite the fact that we are not. I know that it is unlikely for TNT to change their ways, it would require a break from the norm and would require more than they probably feel necessary. I'm not trying to complain, really I'm not, and I'm not saying it's "unfair". It's simply unlevel ground for people who focus on other stats, rather than Battledoming. However I see why they focus on the battledome areas, not so much for keeping the interest of BDers but simply to keep the "Pokemon" feel of the game. Without going too far, and outstepping their boundaries, of course.

I actually think they've done a good job lately of catering to everybody. We've had 3 puzzle plots in a row, and now I think it's time for some good old-fashioned spider squashing. Or Meepit squashing, whatever the case may be.

We are only speculating on a battle (war) will happen in the plot. At this point, there is no war and no new clue to work on.

If you have done the potions that Bruno drank and read Chapter 8 of the comic, then you are up to date. :D

Okay I'm confused...wasn't something supposed to happen on Halloween and yet... well it almost over? o_O

Edit: Nevermind, I see there is a new comic... at least.

Once again, we were only speculating that something would happen - (me included). We thought that a battle might start on Halloween.

Obviously TNT has other plans.

::shakes head:: That's not what I was talking about. There's a difference between puzzle plots and war. The puzzle plots test the player more than wars do. Wars more test stats...yes, a good strategy is necessary in the battledome, but it's still focused on stats. What's being discussed currently is the idea of instituting other stats into the mix, such as intelligence or even happiness, or even the possiblity of how many gourmet foods have been eaten (that'd be a strange plot indeed!!).

I agree completely. But see, TNT has already started that idea - that's why we have puzzle plots. Those who enjoy a good puzzle can work it out. And those who don't can just wait for the next war.

In my opinion, they should vary the plots more than they're doing now. Rather than a bunch of puzzle plots, then a bunch of war plots, they could be more creative. This plot, I think, had probably the most potential(sp?) out of all of them. For example:

Sophie's spells. Intelligence could affect that - but low intelligence wouldn't count you out.
Also, puzzles, which could be the spells and many other things.

The races for bones and gravestone markings. I think, though, that they should have put a limit per person, per day - more people would have had a chance. But you have to admit, they did learn from their mistake. Multiple graveyards at once would be a grand idea.

Knocking the sense into the townspeople. Okay, okay, I'm sure they could do better than me right there - but there is war potential still, wether with the [stronger] townspeople, Spirit of Slumber, or beasts that have yet to turn up. In fact, spirits of some sort could have appeared when the graves were being dug up. Also, battles have potential to keep people happy inbetween updates.

Other things, like the speed state, you can also use creatively. I believe it was a factor in the LDP, was it not? With the sand carrying? That was the rumour, anyway. Higher speed, less time you take.

Also, the games had a part in this, which was cool, I think. A score nearly anyone could manage made it easier.

So, yeah. On the other hand, varying too much might not be a good idea (can't put it into words right now, but I'm sure you understand). As I said before, it would be a nice idea if they could just vary between the plot contents, rather than having some sort of 'fad'. Wars to start, then puzzles. Perhaps sports like Yooyu Ball will follow? All great, but I'd rather have them vary, thanks.

I like plot puzzles best, since I don't have a battling pet (though I'm thinking about training one), and since this started as a puzzle plot I'd hate it if we needed to battle to complete it.

I don't want to do anything else currently but wait for the sidebar. :P But I agree, there's not much to do. Only a nice comic to read, nothing else. I'm glad that Bruno didn't explode! Image Poor Bruno. I really pity him, after having to fight and also having that Spirit of Slumber in his body. *Awaits for next chapter*

Edit: Oh yeah, and I don't want any battle. Too "troublesome".
