I guess it's an acquired taste, like wine.

Oh good, I thought I was the only one one here that doesn't know what Vegemite is.

At first, I thought it was some sort of pesticide or plant food like Miracle-Gro. xD

Haha. It's a spread that Aussie kids have grown up with for years, much like Marmite.

A lot of people hate the taste, if they haven't grown up with it. Personally, I think that this is because people don't realise just how little you actually need (a small jar of Vegemite can last for months!), or if they've been warned, don't take it seriously. My dad still spreads it too thickly on my toast on occasion ;P

I had a vegemite and cheese sandwich, just today!
And yes, if you're going to try it ... spread it reeeeally thinly.

It's particularly nice on toast melted together with a reasonable amount of margarine :) I've heard of people having it in toasted sandwiches, but I've always been too scared to try it. And there's something about drinking it as as hot drink... or is that just Bovril?

Poor US people with no vegemite :( *shakes head*

Bought bread from a man in Brazil
Was 6 foot 4, and full of muscle
I asked do you speaka my language
And he smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich

And he said Oh
I live in a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can you hear, can you hear that thunder?
You better run, you better take cover

When I was younger I had a friend who grew up in Australia. Everytime I spent the night her parents forced Vegemite on me. I've never really liked the stuff myself, but I think the ban is quite silly.

Heheheh, that's a bit crazy.

Not that I care... I hate the assumption that all Aussie's like Vegemite... I think its foul.

Not enough to ban it for all the people who do like it though. :P

What's Marmite? xD

Don't worry, I looked it up on Wikipedia. Interesting, though I'd probably not like it.

I absolutely HATE Vegemite. Unless it's in a Cheese and Vegemite Scroll from Bakers' Delight. Oh, how I love those scrolls. That's the only time I ever eat vegemite.

I had no idea what Vegemite was.. until I googled it.

Somehow, I'm not surprised at its manufacturer.

Looks icky. o.o

:P To calm fears, according to Wikipedia, it's all a myth.
(though it'd be tragic if it happened, I suppose. Because Marmite is <3)
