I used to read some fanfics but I haven't read any in awhile. I don't write fanfiction though because I have this awful habit of getting bored of stories I'm writing and I just cut them short with an ending that is completely at odds with the story itself.

I've writting one fanfic-drabble. It's incomplete, as I'm a procrastinator.

On the other hand, I have around one hundred fanfics bookmarked on my laptop... Mostly HP, though there are a few LotR, Artemis Fowl and one PotC fic(s) in the lot.

I tend to read fics from the SQ. As I usually only read HP fics, I don't bother with any other sites (the Pit (fanfiction.net, aka FFN) is an awful place- horrible, I tell you). I love that site. Absolutely Mary Sue free, and no badfic! My paradise, I swear. Though it's largely R/Hr and H/G. Another reason why I love it- those are my two main ships.

I loathe Mary Sues. Especially ones that ruthlessly butcher the personalities of the canon characters. I want to hurt them. Though I shan't describe how I'd hurt them, as I'd be de-modded and banned if I did.

Rant over.

(And I support waaay too many couples(ships) to post..)

I don't think much of fan-fiction. It may simply be that I am used to reading books and like the feel of paper in my hand. In my opinion, the chances of me finding a fan-fiction that is readable without the use and knowledge of chatspeak and common, frequent misspellings is about 1 in 10. A good one where the characters are developed, the content is interesting, the writer knows what he or she is talking about and makes for decent reading on a rainy day feels like it's 1 in 100. I would much, much rather have a good book that I can read over and over with the same enjoyment and without fear that the site is going to crash.

I remember a long time ago I found an excellent SeaQuest DSV fanfic. It was really well-written. Sadly, I only got a chance to read the first 10 chapters, then my parents cancelled the internet without any warning and I never got a chance to finish it.

Really do not like fanfiction, I don't really like reading things not made by the original author, it just comes off as sounding cheesy.

I write far too many! Mainly just Yu-Gi-Oh! and Fillmore! stories.

Sometimes I enjoy reading them as long as they're good. Unfortunately, there seems to be mostly bad ones. Though I also like reading bad ones, just to see how awful they are on occasion. Too many have tend to make me irritable.

As for writing, I used to do some. Wasn't very good at all. I haven't in a long time, though I have an idea that's been sitting in my brain gathering dust that I've been meaning to write.

I've never actually bothered to read a fanfic before, so I really can't say I don't like it. But I don't think I'd ever bother reading one anyways.

I have read a bit of fanfiction, some of it seems quite good. All i really know about it though is that some people get obsessive with it and thats bad I reckon. Also some people just spend heaps and heaps of time writting it, which also in my opinion is bad. It would be so much better to write something with your own characters. But then again I am not that educated on the subject of fanfic so I am probably making an uneducated opinion on it.

I used to write a lot on Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask fiction back when I was in high school.

I'm a bit of a stickler for trying to make my writing fit into what everyone already knows as much as possible. So I may tell a side-story or a backstory....but it has to fit in with whatever story already exists in whatever video game I'm writing about.

I used to try to write fanfics, now I just read them on occasion. And yes, Mary Sue is evil.

Oh, and TFM, you'd love the LJ community Deleterius. It's devoted to the verbal abuse of LOTR and HP Mary Sues.

I love Deleterius. Though it does have some innapropriate stuff from time to time. Ah well. Mary Sues are vile creatures.

Deleterius provides me hours of amusement. I mostly read the Harry Potter sues. I love the over the top sues, like the ones that are part veela and unicorn, that every boy automatically falls in love with, the Sorting Hat can't sort, and have some sort of tragic past. Oh, I forgot, they can also use wandless magic and have special eyes that can change color depending on their mood.
