I was slacking around when I decided to work something out.

Here is my analysis of all the durations and costs for training Pets at the Mystery Island Training School till a Level Cap of 250.

Quote:
***MYSTERY ISLAND TRAINING SCHOOL ANALYSIS***

Grasshopper 0-20 - 1 codestone, 2 hours
Basic 21-40 - 2 codestones, 3 hours
Intermediate 41-80 - 3 codestones, 4 hours
Adept 81-100 - 4 codestones, 6 hours
Advanced 101-120 - 5 codestones, 8 hours
Expert 121-150 - 6 codestones, 12 hours
Master 151-200 - 7 codestones, 18 hours
Grand Master 201-250 - 8 codestones, 24 hours

Assuming that each codestone costs 5000NP, all stats are trained except Movement and all are trained to the level maximum, and that there are no training stat bonuses.

Grasshopper-->Lvl 0-20
------------------------------
Strength = 40 codestones
Defence = 40 codestones
Endurance = 40 codestones
Level = 20 codestones
Total = 140 codestones
Estimated Cost = 700000NP
Duration = 140*2 = 280 hours

Basic-->Lvl 21-40
------------------------------
Strength = 80 codestones
Defence = 80 codestones
Endurance = 80 codestones
Level = 40 codestones
Total = 280 codestones
Estimated Cost = 1.4 mil NP
Duration = 140*3 = 420 hours

Intermediate-->Lvl 41-80
------------------------------
Strength = 240 codestones
Defence = 240 codestones
Endurance = 240 codestones
Level = 120 codestones
Total = 840 codestones
Estimated Cost = 4.2 mil NP
Duration = 280*4 = 1120 hours

Adept-->Lvl 81-100
------------------------------
Strength = 160 codestones
Defence = 160 codestones
Endurance = 160 codestones
Level = 80 codestones
Total = 560 codestones
Estimated Cost = 2.8 mil NP
Duration = 140*6 = 840 hours

Advanced-->Lvl 101-120
------------------------------
Strength = 200 codestones
Defence = 200 codestones
Endurance = 200 codestones
Level = 100 codestones
Total = 700 codestones
Estimated Cost = 3.5 mil NP
Duration = 140*8 = 1120 hours

Expert-->Lvl 121-150
------------------------------
Strength = 360 codestones
Defence = 360 codestones
Endurance = 360 codestones
Level = 180 codestones
Total = 1260 codestones
Estimated Cost = 6.3 mil NP
Duration = 210*12 = 2520 hours

Master-->Lvl 151-200
------------------------------
Strength = 700 codestones
Defence = 700 codestones
Endurance = 700 codestones
Level = 350 codestones
Total = 2450 codestones
Estimated Cost = 12.25 mil NP
Duration = 350*18 = 6300 hours

Grand Master-->Lvl 201-250
----------------------------
Strength = 800 codestones
Defence = 800 codestones
Endurance = 800 codestones
Level = 400 codestones
Total = 2800 codestones
Estimated Cost = 14 mil NP
Duration = 350*24 = 8400 hours

At this point of training, the Pet would have the following stats:

Level: 250
Strength: 500
Defence: 500
HP: 500

Total Cost and Duration of Training:

Total Cost = 45.15 mil NP
Total Duration = 21000 hours

21000 hours = 875 days OR 29.16 months OR 2.39 years of NON-STOP training.

That's only till Level 250. After that there's the Secret Ninja Training School. I don't have the information now but we're all sure it's gonna be way-way more time and NP consuming then any other known stage of training.

Now imagine pets like Antorcha and Majal_Kita. All stats maxed(at 700) and a humongeous amount of HP(like 10k? :o :hug: :evil: ). Now you are allowed to faint/commit suicide/hit yourself with a sledgehammer... Wadeva suits you.

LOL... Hope all you trainers out there enjoy this BARE TRUTH... :D

Post if you find a mistake anywhere in this analysis.

You're not making me really happy with this... :(
I just thought, yeay I can finally start some training, and then you come with these numbers... :x

But thankfully there are lots of other ways to gain stats, and I've also gotten a head start with the lab ray :hug:

Wow. That's a lot.

Although it wouldn't be quite that much as you can train hp to 3x level

What about the random stat bonuses you sometimes get while training?

He (or she :P) didn't count those, as he said, it was purely an overview of what it would cost if you just counted from the beginning, with codestones, without any other bonuses.

The actual amount will be less, I think, since codestones are now somewhere between 3500-4500. Also, training at the academy is also cheaper (it goes up to level 40), although it does take longer. And then there are the stat increases that come from other sources (lab ray, quests, RE's). In a rough estimation, I think you'd still have to spend over 20M these days to train your pet.

The owners of those uber-strong pets have been around for a long time, back when it was still possible to ask for a Faerie Quest, and where making money was way easy. They probably didn't even spend a fraction of what we have to go through nowaydays.

As for the Secret Ninja Training School, they need Red Codestones (I don't know how much per course), and they come at about 40,000 NP a piece. Go figure.

Very interesting. I train at Swashbuckling and Mystery Island, interchangably, depending on what I feel like and if I have a codestone in my inventory or not :roflol:

But come on, you've got to have at least five (or ten, or twenty, or whatever) super bonuses in two years...

I can see its been some time since you bought codestones. :)

Edit and there was an article in the Neopets magazine, the odds of a bonus are 1 in 10.

That's pretty far out... considering the fact that Main and Eo are now above 8k NP and don't show any sign of decreasing. Others like Zei, Har, and Vo have all risen above 5k.

So with my current stat projection it will probably cost alot more then estimated.

Pre plot inflation, Eo and Main were around 7K, Bri was 3K and all the others were around 4-4.5K. I think. So I think an average of 5K isn't that far off, if prices eventually drop down to somewhere around there.

This makes me want to bang my head against a wall. XD I was daydreaming of getting my dream pet, and training up from scratch, but it's gonna be so so expensive and time consuming! I mean, I knew it would be expensive and time consuming, but this makes it seem like so much!

If that's true, that shaves about 4 million NP and a few months off his figure... Isn't there also a "super bonus" that increases a stat by 4 points?

bonus 2 1/10
bonus 3 1/100
bonus 4 1/1,000
bonus 5 1/10,000
bonus 6 1/100,000

45.15mil. Wow. When you think about it, if you didn't train everyday and saved that money you would spend on training, you could be 45.15 million np richer in two years...=P

LabRay ftw!

Yup, I realised this a few months back, when I was low in NP. With the amount I spent training their pets, I could have led a comfortable life at Neo. How some battledomers manage it (training + weapons) without RSing, in my opinion, is ggoooddd!
