I can't recall if I'd been actively doing Snow Faerie Quests during that time, but I got the Taelia avatar right around Sloth Day this year, so I'm going to venture a guess and say I wasn't (actively, or probably at all) doing Snow Faerie Quests until after last December. I also did not have any active trades going on at the time, nor was I offering on any.

And despite all evidence to the contrary, I have not sold my soul to TNT. :P

(Edit: Woo! 1500th post! I can't believe it's almost been a year....)

Well, we know having snowballs in one's inventory isn't the answer...how about Abominable Snowballs, snowflakes, or even ice cream? Or maybe a Taelia-themed item? (On the other hand, were there even any of those when the sidebar was first released? Can't remember...)

I have to say though, out of all the theories put forth so far, I like the one about visiting the advent calendar or collecting your prize at xx:12:31 (where x is any hour) - course, that doesn't mean it's the correct one. :P

I wouldn't do that, it's against the TOS hon, and if you lose your account because of that.. well.. just know its agaisnt the TOS and are a few cheap prizes ya can later buy on the wizard worth risking your account?

I saw too many people saying they got it right at midnight, or 4 minutes past midnight, etc.

The main rumour that I've been hearing is that you have to collect the prize every day.

Which is a bummer for me, as I am occasionally forgetful with my dailies, and therefore may end up forgetting a coupel of days ._.

That may be 1 requisite but not the only one. I have collected each item every day at 12.00am or within 10 minutes of it. (local time for me is 6.00pm, so it is very accessible for me).

That main rumor is NOT TRUE. I have collected all prizes for 2 years and still haven't received the sidebar yet.

Maybe you have to place them all in your inventory/Gallery/Shop etc?

Someone said that earlier, that they had all the items in their inventory when they went on 31 Dec.

Checking the earlier part of this thread, and the 2005 Advent Calendar thread, that seems to not be the requirement. Some people said they had no Calendar items in their inventory at all.

I can second that: all of my items were in my SDB.

I did have a Christmas Bori with a Snow Buzzer on my account at the time, but I think that "requirement" was debunked last year.

Well it's not having something named 'Christmas' in your inventory. I went this morning with a Merry Christmas Card, but no avatar.

We're not trying for an avatar, we're trying for a sidebar that happens on .. was it the last day of the advent calendar or christmas? I think it was the latter... dunno.

But you get an avatar on the first day auto if you don't have it already (the Christmas Fir av)
