You know... it was a good day, until I woke up.
Apart from biting myself on the cheek so hard that I have puncture wounds (apparently i've forgotten how to chew.), I put my cellphone through my washing machine.
This just sorta sucks.
Anyone have tips/ideas?
I have a fairly bad feeling it'll be dead. Though I put my digital camera through the wash and let it dry for like a week and it was fine. But this is just bad. It's out and drying, with the battery out (and drying seperate from the phone).
Can anyone shed hope upon my situation?

Youve done the one thing I would have suggested. That's what I did when I dropped my phone in the bath. Just make sure it's thoroughly dry when you put it back together. Stick it on top of a raditor too.

While looking for possible solutions it said that putting it in the oven at 125 F for 5 hours would work. That or dipping it in Rubbing Alcohol.
*shudder* neither of which i'm doing. Too chicken!
Heh.

With the luck you're currently having, you might put it in the oven only to return five hours later with a sorry looking melted gloop in there...

I think what you're doing right now is the safest option. Good luck ^^

Yeah, just keep doing what you're doing. In the meantime, I'd try to find a friend or relative with an old phone that they're not using that's similar to yours. If they'll let you borrow it, you can just put your SIM chip in that.

My friend Kirsten put hers through the washer. Left it on a heater for a few days and that did the trick.

Her granddad did the same thing after he dropped his in the toilet.

Her family are nutjobs.

Wow, what model of phone is that? I keep breaking mine and I think I'll upgrade to whatever you've got.

Haha, yeah... I dropped my phone in the toilet  and then tried turning it on waaay too soon afterwards. Not a good idea!

Make sure you take the battery out first, if you're going to put it in the oven ;) I also heard that taking a hair dryer to it might speed up the drying, if you don't want to risk the oven and don't have a suitable heater!

Aleast ahoteinrun didn't do the same and accidentally flush it as that would have been as bad as putting it in the oven only to return five hours later with a sorry looking melted mess that used to be a phone in there.

Keep doing what you are doing to get it dry and take the advice of some of the suggestions our PPTers have suggested.

If you have an LCD screen there's a good chance it'll never work again, or at least that's been my experience.

On the bright side, now you can get any sort of phone you want. My sister(who sells cell phones) told me that you can now get the unlocking code for any type of phone by calling the company, so now most phones work with most SIM cards.

they really should make water-resistant phones, like the water-resistant cameras they've started making. i know so many people who have broken their phone because it got wet - zorg incliuded who jumped into a swimming pool with his in his pocket.

Yeah, my friend pushed her boyfriend into the pool, not realising his phone was in his pocket.

Ditto the drying out suggestion - I would wait a week to make sure it's fully dried - even if it looks like it's dried give it a couple of days extra just in case!

Gone, forever.
