Um, wow. For some reason, I don't receive any of that kind of stuff at all and I have Hotmail. xD My inbox just consists of myspace alerts and my junk box is empty. =D I guess I'm just lucky...

Wed Jan 03, 2007 7:26 am

I get a lot of "Make your woman happy" emails. Which is odd, as last time I checked, I was female.

I also get a few bank scams. The thing that amuses me the most is that I've gotten those emails for every bank except the two I have accounts with.

Wed Jan 03, 2007 7:33 am

i dont read any of my junkmail, i just delete it all.

Wed Jan 03, 2007 9:04 am

I use Hotmail and I've recieved quite a ton of viruses, nothing much else.
Except that some people loves chain-mails...>_>

Annoyingly, I only receive chain emails from people who either got my email from someone else's chain email, or from people who added me to MSN a year ago (and I deleted after a week).

Maybe it's because my friends who I actually know who email me know that I would hurt them, literally, if they sent me rubbish like that XD

Seriously? I get thousands a week in Gmail, if I don't clear it out.

My email has a brilliant filter system so I don't get much spam :D Well, yes if I count the emails I get from people who I stopped being friends with... and chain letters my other friends send for some reason (I just don't have the heart to tell them they don't work :( )

Wed Jan 03, 2007 5:39 pm

I got spam from Russia once. I wanted to keep it, but I forgot that anything int he spam box is deleted after thirty days. Whoops. XD
What amuses me is I get the same thing from multiple people.

OH! And whenever I look in my spam inbox, I get a Google ad for spam casserole.

EDIT - This one wins.

Same. Of course, I've had Gmail for about 2 1/2 years. I probably get about 100-150 spam emails a day, but the filter's generally pretty good.

Once I was like 9 and got one of those HELP ME TRANSFER MONEY things or something.. and I thought it was real and I was scared. :[

I'm not popular enough for Spam (Yay being a social outcast really) but I got a doozy today.

I won the Universe lottery.
I think they were hoping that something so absurd would pique my interest enough to actually open it (Bypassed my spam filter too)

I stopped getting stupid chain letters from total strangers when I started getting (Overly) Malicious and signing them up for the first dozen websites on a choice web search...

Thu Jan 04, 2007 1:02 am

My spam folder doesn't auto-delete, which is good, because sometimes non-spam things will go in there by mistake.

It's hard to find good stuff, because it's mostly from "Windows IT Pro" or "Security Update", and they're boring.

This one was kind of weird, because it had my username and a link to my LJ, which means it wasn't sent in bulk.

Hi. My name is Eugene Gershin. Perhaps we have met online, but more probably you don't know me from Adam. I monitor blogs for SamsonBlinded, and came across your post.

I'd like to welcome you to look at Obadiah Shoher's blog. Obadiah - an anonymous Israeli politician - writes extremely controversial articles about Israel, the Middle East politics, and terrorism.
Shoher is equally critical of Jewish and Muslim myths, and advocates political rationalism instead of moralizing.
Google banned our site from the AdWords, Yahoo blocked most pages, and Amazon deleted all reviews of Obadiah's book, Samson Blinded: A Machiavellian Perspective on the Middle East Conflict.
Nevertheless, 170,000 people from 78 countries read the book.

Various Internet providers ban us periodically, but you can look up the site on search engines. The mirror http://www.terrorism-in-israel.com/blog currently works.

Please help us spread Obadiah's message, and mention the blog in one of your posts, or link to us from tymaporer.livejournal.com/. I would greatly appreciate your comments.

Best wishes,
Eugene Gershin

Seriously. How do these people find me? How does my email end up on spam mailing lists? O_o

A lot of them have weird titles though. Random combinations of words or letters. Probably to avoid any kind of filter that catches certain words.

Oh, and I used to get emails from classmates.com. They thought my name was Jeffrey.

Thu Jan 04, 2007 3:54 am

Oooh, I hate those "find old classmates" sites. My sister decided to sign up for one, and in order to get complete access you have to provide 6 email addresses from various people. So she used my email as one, and I've been getting spammed by them lately.
