Duping's back, be careful!

Every item has a unique identifier number (which is different from the item ID, by the way), and duped items all have the same ID number. So all TNT has to do is figure out which item is being duplicated (really easy, actually), and delete that ID number, and clear out all of the items in question. Beforehand they'll probably take a look and see who has items with that same ID and how they got them - if it looks suspicious, they'll freeze. Otherwise, they'll just yank the items out of users' inventories.

so If you've got only one item can the take it away, can you still get froze?

Bleh. I just hope this gets resolved soon.

Although I'm glad I checked here before I went out and bought that morphing potion for my pet..I suppose I'll hold off on that until we're sure all of the dupes are gone. (Don't wanna risk losing my account over wanting to transform my pet, heh.)

Honestly if I think you bought a duped item, but didn't know it was duped, you should be allowed to keep the item. But, that's only if you paid full price on one. Otherwise, it was a waste on your part. And it's not like Neopets is losing anything by letting you keep it. I hardly think it'll change the economy of Neopets.

If you are worried about your item being a fake, you can always put it on the TP or in your SDB and write Neo about it. Just be honest and say you bought this, you didn't realize that duping was going on, you are now worried that it is a duped item, and if it is, would they please delete it. A lot of people did that during the last round of duping and I can't say proof positive, but my guess is that the staff didn't freeze those people. The staff members are human, after all, and believe it or not, do have hearts. So, if you are sincere and honest with them and show them that you are forthright and didn't do anything intentionally, you should be OK.

aww... man, not again. When did this start officially? Does anyone know because i think I bought a krawk trans on the auctions on Jan 1st. I hope this item isn't dupped. :cry:

Would they dupe something as small as a green petpet paintbrush?
I've bid on one that's half the price it generally goes for. =/

I didnt buy anything yet. I just didnt want to risk it.
