This may be in the wrong section, but I didn't see one for pointless ranting, so here we go.

We just entered year 8 in neotime and the site has been up for a little over seven years and yet the oldest shield for one's lookup reads six. I don't know why this is irking me so much...maybe it's just the match breaking the camel which is composed of shoddy art, slow prize distribution and glitches, I don't know. I do remember when TNT would release new shields on time and I would look forward to getting the next one...but I have had that ugly..what is that thing on the six year shield anyway? I don't think it's a neopet. Even if they want to quit having different ones for every couple of months, they could update it yearly, is all I'm saying.

But again I wonder if it's that they're so focused on the younger market that will play but not stay, they're forgetting little details like shields..

What? Complaining about slow plot prizes and not even recognizing Bringer of Night (in plushie form) from the Hannah and the Ice Caves Plot?

Well I've been playing neo for a very long time but just got into plots last year, so I am very new to slow prizes. But thank you for telling me what it was. :)

It's cause it ain't pretty. :P I too wish that they'd make new shields. It doesn't seem that difficult (has anyone written to the editorial about this recently?)...

Yeah, I've been playing since 1999. I've had this shield for far too long--yeah, it's cool, but I'm sick of it. I think I'll send something to the editorial. :)

I'd rather see those rewards for longtime players akin to newbie packs that they promised. A fifth pet slot for every account older than 4 years would be nice, but I'd settle for some free items and a couple days of free training.

I'll be getting the dreaded 6 year shield in April. I did send something to the editorial asking about new shields a few weeks ago too. I mentioned how it didnt seem really hard to put together some new art, and its only 12 for a years worth. But I send decent questions nearly every week, and they choose a couple silly filler questions for humor's sake instead of informative ones with what limited question space is already there :/

It seems they do more strenuous projects in a weeks worth of new features than it would take to do shields though. All it is is a random bit of art over top a standard shield, with simple text below. Unless theres some complicated secret ritual that goes along with shieldmaking or something.

I also get my updated shields about a week late now. I wish there were a way to put it back in order so that I get them closer to the right time. My Neoboard status is always a month more than it should be as well. So for about a week, Ive got my lookup stating 68, and the Neoboards telling me 70, when its actually been 69 months. Just a little bother.

I asked someone about this literally months ago (June 20th) and she said, "the shields are in production, yup. Through 8 years are being created." I wonder what happened. I've had my six year one for ages now.

I think instead of starting anything new, for a few months, they should just work on old stuff that's not done. Get the shields up to date. Maybe even make a few ahead! o.O Release items that have been announced, but are still unreleased. Get plot prizes out. Maybe fix spelling errors that seem to be all over the place.

Just maintenance stuff like that, to get everything up to date. It would make people a lot more happy than releasing new stuff. How thrilled would gallery people be to be able to BUY the stuff they've been looking to get since forever? Putting stuff like that in the news would make people a lot more happy than starting new stuff so that we can complain that old stuff still isn't done.

I am still wondering why the Altador plot prizes took so long ... when in the end we all got the exact same thing.

Hear hear!

I mean, how much of a waste of their time is it to have had one department doing all this artwork for stuff that isn't available to use on the site? Items that are unreleased are wasted effort and money on their part, too. It presents an overall feeling of sloppiness in the organization that this is so constant.

I come up on the 6 year mark in July.
Dang I need to get off this site already!

And I also sent a question to the editorial about the shields a few months ago, but nothing.
I miss old Neopets.

Judging by the quote, I think they're revamping some of the older ones. It's not a bad idea.

Me too. Like when you didn't have to pay to not see ads and when everything ran smoothly and everything was new and shiny. Sigh.
