Before it was bought by Viacom.
Before the millions of users.
Before the sparkling apple juice.

Or, what are your memories of Neopets?

I miss when Maraqua was around, before it was sucked up in a whirlpool. I miss when the maps were all HTML only and it was one page for each, not three. I miss when the only limited edition pets were like Cybunnies, before all the new pets came out. I miss the old Meerca Chase. I miss when TNT actually came out with new avatars all the time, when they were first launched. Oh, there's tons of things I miss.

The happy yellow koi at the Money Tree. I almost cried when it got booted for the acara. His "You got it!" really made my day.

When Krawk petpets were 300k and when full secret lab maps were like 86k.

Now everything awesome is expensive

Also when there weren't CGs and Report Happys.

And also to mention when the BC wasn't ruled by scribbles, but was ruled by awesome artists. Also with the BC, when one could go on spare accounts too and enter there spare account pets.

I miss the easy-breezy games (Bullseye, Kiko Match) and the economic stability. I still regret not buying a Hypno- err, H-4000 Helmet when I saw it for 90,000 NP. I also miss the relative ease of existence- now, you can't do anything without wondering if you'll get frozen. You see all these questions in the Editorial about "can I do this, can I do that," and it's really disconcerting.

I miss the old stock market and the old neoboards.

The neoboard thing may just be that I miss being 14 and being a dumb little kid, but I'm pretty sure I'd prefer the old set up anyway.

But yeah, my most fond neo memories are all pre-meridell for the most part. Then they introduced the ixi, and I swear it all went down from there...

The days where everyone was actually kind, scams were nonexistant, and when items were actually obtainable just by playing games.

I miss the days when TNT actually took the time to care about the users of their site. I miss getting real messages back (as opposed to the form letters now) when there was a problem or you submitted an idea. I miss being able to earn more than 1000 NP on a flash game (at least I thought you used to be able to...I might be getting old...memory fading). I miss TNT delivering on their promises.

Oh! I miss that too, like getting magical pteri, poogle, meerca, whatever plushies. That was nice.

I miss the times, when you didn't get banned for sharing an IP address with someone.

My mate went to sign onto neopets today, and it said he was frozen because a user was using more than one account to gain points.

I miss a bunch of the old shopkeepers. I used to have the Taelia with the bobbed black hair and alternative sort of look, and they replaced her with something stupid. Now shes always bundled up or looking really cartoony.

I liked when the new features was a general site update page too. They'd let us know when a glitch was fixed, why something was broken, and didnt put things together so scripted and by the book like they do now. It was like they were as excited by the new stuff as we were.

I miss easy NP at Grundo's Gym, purple before the spots, the maps before flash took over, and being interested in site events before avatars and prize shops too. And most of all, I miss the old Grundos

I miss the old style Faeries. Not the old, old ones, but I liked the way they were drawn before this recent anime style redraw of them all. They just looked really glamorous, esp. the Air Faerie.

Does anyone know where I can find piccies of them?

ETA: I'm starting to hate how kiddifed everything is getting. I mean, yeah, a lot (probably, mostly) kids play. But, it seems like they aren't really even acknowledging the older players anymore. Which doesn't sit all that well with me, cause I'd be willing to bet that us older players are the ones who are more willing to stick around and be long time players. Kids and teens can be really fickle. ie. I still don't understand the reason for changing the Wines into Sparkling juices. If parents are that conservative about things like this, they shouldn't let their kids play the site.

They arent the really old ones, but I dont think theyre the most recent before the anime/cartoony look took over either. These are the ones I remember best from 2001-2002 or so.

Not the ones I was looking for, but I wanna save them nonetheless. I really wish I would've saved a lot of old neo images over the years. Next time I see something I like, I will save the piccie.
