I miss the Games Cupboard. I miss site development that wasn't promised time and time again, only to finally appear 1.5 years later in a lesser form. I miss Chia Bingo and Switcharoo. I really really miss the unique art style Neopets used to have. *le sigh*

I also miss the 7 Planes of Good and Evil, haha. And the old HTML maps, as well. And the first edition of Kacheek Seek that was based on user's submissions of artwork!

Hmm. I certainly have fond memories of Neopets when I first started, 5 or so years ago ... sure, it was kinda cool when the site was smaller, when Adam and Donna used to be more visible, and some items/pets/jokes were more "random" (eg. the Bruce! And that lady singer pet, who I've forgotten the name of).

But... I think there's a lot to be said that's good now. I mean, there weren't plots, way back then. I don't think they would have had the time or resources to craft a massive site-wide event like that - creating the puzzles, the fantastic artwork for the comics, coping with the server load for the battles, etc.

I appreciate the fun flash games and lovely artwork that there is now. People criticise the current Neopets artwork quite a bit (eg. the new Darigan Kacheek), but if it hadn't progressed since the good ole days, then ... it wouldn't be as popular as it is now, I don't think :)

Edit: Though, I must say, some items like paintbrushes are sooooo incredibly un-affordable right now :( I couldn't even afford them when I first started, and they were a fraction of the price they are now.

The lady-singer Neopet was actually Macy Gray. I remember when Neopets had to replace her with something else, something about Macy Gray not allowing it hehe.

Ahh, that's right!! I knew she was a singer of some sort. It was rather more fun when Neopets could have more pop references like that, without worry of being sued. I spose we still have a few in the 404s, at least :)

I miss the wait for battledome when it was still in beta-mode :( The original Bruce and Taelia. Maraqua when it was still a city, so many things so little brain cells.

I miss the ORIGINAL Neopets Team.

*sniffles*

I miss when the highest prize for referring people was the Battle Faerie was your next BD opponent :(

I miss the avatar releases... they haven't released one in ages.
I miss not being able to play without worrying about sniping good deals ('could this be a dupe?') or being on the boards ('who will be the first to report me?').
I miss the times when TNT was focused on ALL their players... not just the new ones. How long have they been promising things for "oldies" comparable to the "newbie packs" and not done a thing?
I miss Sloth.
I REALLY miss TNT keeping us updated on the sit, one what was being planned, etc. in the news. The "coming soon" page is probably updated about once a year. For example, "Attack of the Gummy Dice" is still coming soon... and it's been out for a while now. Nothing new has been added since I actually can remember (and I'm not exaggerating... I literally CANNOT remember anything else being on that page).
I miss TNT being focused on the online experience, rather than the money-experience. I mean, I'm premium and that's great and I have a friend who has Lutari Island on her phone, but it's irritating that a lot of the news seems to be on what new items can be bought from Limited Too, rather than what can be done online.

I agree with all of you.
The old Neopets team should come back, for sure.
And I miss when the site wasn't DIRECTED at little kids.
Before the McDonalds promos.
Before they took away Poogle Solitaire.
Before the Neorona was gone..
Before the new sidebar.
Before all the ads.
Bleh. I really need to just get up and leave this site, forever.
I'm too old to put up with the crap they put out there now.

It has pop-ups since it's a tripod site, but it has pretty much everything related to old Neo.

I miss Meriball. It was the game I was best at, and the only one I've ever gotten close to getting a trophy for. And then BAM it was gone, and they didn't even bother putting it in the Games Graveyard.

Other games too- that pyramid one where you had to find your way out, fighting things as you went. Can't remember the name, but I remember it was very much loved by people.

They keep taking the best games off of the site and not making new versions or anything like that. :/

I miss the pre-revamp Acara, too. It was much, much better looking.

And I do miss the pre-major-inflation prices. I know that even then, compared to a year or so before that, prices were inflated, but they were at a steady price for a while, then shot up.

Morphing potions used to be really, really cheap- mainly because they were not all R98 or R99. One day TNT announced in the news that the MP rarities were now all either R98 or R99, and the prices went INSANE after that. I managed to snag a morphing potion or two for 40k that day, and now it's worth over 1 mil. Which is good, I guess, but I want other, different MPs.

I remember trying to save up for a lab map as the prices steadily increased- when I started, they were around 90k for the entire set, and by the time I finished, I had to pay around 130k for two pieces I didn't have (one good thing for waiting so long- I recieved the rest of the pieces for free through REs :) ).

*nostalgic for old Neopets and old PPT*

I miss being able to morph my Lupe Stone for less than 10,000 NP. Apart from the out-of-control inflation on pet-altering stuff, I don't mind the site as it is.

I miss being able to restock from shops like in the good ol days when Red Cybunny Morphing Potion was like 35k. LOL

But I must say that I am grateful for: Quickstock. Galleries. The yellow top nav bar being more places (like the Trading Post). Safety Deposit Box Search.

I mostly just miss how the site used to feel so small. When I first joined, you could neomail anyone just to chat, and they'd usually be nice and friendly. TNT'ers, Neopian legends, random people from the shop chatrooms; anybody would be willing to talk. I miss my neofriends from 1999 so much--they were all so fun and helpful. Now, if you just randomly neomail people because you like their name or their gallery or something, they assume you're up to something dodgy. :(

Other than that, I'd have to say that the site has generally improved. It's hard to say I'd trade the features we've got now to go back to that small-site feel. I guess I'm just wishing that the big city with lots of fun things to do was more like a small town...but still with all those things to do. :P

Wow. That site brings back a lot of old memories.

Like normal food items of nearly every type being less than 100NP.

I should have held onto all of the Cheesey Neos I hoarded back then. They were like, the best item ever to me. XD
