I've never had a friendship end dramatically, though, to be honest, I would never say that I've ever had a friendship "end". I had a childhood friend, but he started hanging out with a certain crowd (mostly the intellectual crowds and even more geeky that I am crowd) and I hung out with a completely different group (the funny jokester type). I had classes with him, be we really never talked to each other, I'm not sure why. After High School, in college, I was then hanging out with the "intellectua-mellow" types, and he hung out with the "intellectual-goofy" type (pretty much the same group as he did in high school, that wasn't a choice for me, though, as only 2 people I hung around with from HS were really around me daily).
I've tried striking up conversations, but they were always interupted by his friends (who I am also friendly with, I just don't hang out with them), and I haven't talked to him since December of 2005, and he lives about a clock away.
Another problem is that I had TWO childhood friends, and they were completely different, were interested in completely different things, and were rather awkward around each other. It was awkward for me too, forcing them to be with each other, as I was always with both of them. Eventually after we started talking less and less, the other friend, who I was truthfully around less and talked to much less often, was around me much more often, and we started talk more than we had to begin with. That sort of thing happens around the Hishschool period, though.
Truthfully, I only ever had 3 good friends, one of them I never talk to, one of them I never see has he's a slave to his work (he works at a grocery store... he hasn't had a free day in 5 months? Yeah right. >_>) And the other comes over every week.
