I was lucky enough to finish early in my Anthro test so I was able to hear my friends plotting when they can do all of their drinking and partying tomorrow :P They have to plan around the Mechanics midterm on Weds and doing their Q-lab write ups. Fortunately, I don't drink so I have a nice night of studying planned.

Edit: BTW, the police and campus usually cancel Marti Gras for the school and city. Apparently, too many drunk, rowdy college students send some sort of bad message or something. As a result, there is usually a mass exodus to Santa Barbara since that is like a 'party school' or something. *thinks of all the reasons his cousin got kicked out of UCSB and partying is the common thread*

I'm not doing anything special, even in French. Of course, I have French MWF, but I skipped it today ( ) but my classes in college never do anything fun. I miss high school French classes when we did nothing but play games on Mardi Gras. :P

I do know that this past Friday, 6th Street down in Austin (which is THE party street) was completely closed off to prepare for Mardi Gras, and will be closed until Wednesday or Thursday. *shudder* I'd hate to be down there at that time, especially since it's apparently going to be huge this year due to a lot of people coming to Austin instead of New Orleans. (I was actually downtown on Friday night at a restaurant, and it was murder trying to drive around the area)

Ah. Oh. *reads Wikipedia article* Shrove Tuesday? I've celebrated Shrove Tuesday before, with pancakes, but never Mardi Gras.

In Australia The Mardi Gras is actually a really big annual gay pride parade, and I kinda thought that's what it meant everywhere  There's amazing costumes and dancing and festivities! But not quite the same, I guess.

I just got back from New Orleans, actually, and some of the weekend festivities.

I avoided the debauchery, and at the same time managed to have a great time for a grand total of less than 100 dollars for three days.

I rule.
