Ha, as soon as she said it would help if he got hit by a bus, I knew it was coming. XD Best part of the episode. I have to say, I like this episode, but I found it a little predictable. I wasn't worried about Ben b/c I figured he'd live (too valuable of a character not to), and I figured Danny would be the one to die (Which I was glad, he was getting annoying).
Love the cameo from Mac (from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

And the other doctor guy from portland? Wasn't he Diego on the short lived Christina Applegate sitcom? Wonder why he isn't on the Island.

THe guy in the sitcom was this guy, Bruno Campos: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004797/
I don't think it's the same guy.

ETA: Aha! Tracked him down. His name is Nestor Carbonell.

Now where do I recognize him from... Scrubs![/url]

Wow, I was totally wrong, I knew I had seen him in a sitcom though and it was Suddenly Susan! hehe

I was excited for the return of LOST but it definitely isn't the same as it used to be. What happened to the supernatural things going on like the black cloud and voices, etc. Now it's all about The Others vs Jack, Sawyer, and Kate. I'm still going to watch the show but I hope they don't focus too much on The Others.

Wow, it's definitely supernatural again. This was a good episode. I won't give any spoilers, but it's definitely worth a watch.

Time for WIS to join in on the LOST discussions. :P I have recently finished watching all three seasons and caught my very first Lost episode on TV. :P

Firstly, Juliet is my newest favorite character. Charlie used to be one of my favorite, but he's getting to be very obsessive and annoying, like Claire. Like my friend says, "Charlie is the easiest character to kill off on the show, they're only keeping him on because he's engaged to Kate (In real life) and he'll just be hanging around the set anyways. But I think that point was specially emphasized in the last episode.

I don't think anything I've said was spoilers, though. :P

I agree. It was a very, very excellent episode. Desmond's flashbacks (I'm allowed to say whose flashback it was, right?) were excellent. Ironic, in a sense.

I'm looking forward to seeing Nikki and Pollo's flashbacks. Apparently they're supposed to be what they did on the island while the camera just happened to avoid them for about two seasons. :P I'm annoyed that they didn't just use already minor characters, like Rose and Benard. Perhaps they needed someone younger, and more... fit.

You're allowed to say whose flashbacks they are. I'm not exactly sure what the rules are on spoilers, though. I guess the best rule is to stay away from the thread until you've seen the episode, and don't post any spoilers for future eps except in spoiler font.

Anyways, I have a nice theory about this, but it will be very spoilerish (because unlike other theories, this is simple enough to be what actually happens). All I'll say is that the most important minor character in the episode was probably NOT the jeweler ;)

A good rule to apply to theorizing about LOST is Occam's Razor: that the simplest solution is usually the correct one. When the button first came out, people had all of these wild theories about it downloading information from a satellite, or being the timer for some sort of doomsday device, when really it just suppressed the magnetic energy. I'm sure the same applies to the new mysteries in this episode, and you can forge a pretty direct connection between Desmond's "flashback" and other events if you think about it.

I won't mind seeing Charlie gone. I was tired of liking him anyway.

Now taking bets on how he will die... I place my money on some sort of freak accident, like Hurley is out golfing and hits the ball out of visual range, but it lodges in Charlie's wind pipe causing Locke to rush to give him the Heimlich Maneuver, but he accidently crushes Charlie's rib cage causing them to rush to Jack on the Others' island for an emergency surgery to repair his damaged lungs, but he gets abducted by aliens who cure all his ailments and make Charlie into a superhero like Desmond with the ability to shoot lasers from his eyes and breath fire, but they leave him naked in the middle of the island with no food or water so Charlie has to walk all the way back to camp. Then on the way back, a coconut falls off a tree and crushes Charlie's skull. You know. Just a freak accident. (Come on! Like you didn't expect me to end this anti-climatically :P)

My second guess is that Sylar and Mohinder find the island and Charlie is the one to die on Monday's Heroes :P (Man! Losing two Charlies on that show :P)

Note: If one of those really happen, I had absolutely no foreknowledge and was just making up everything I just typed.

They started the setup for the electromagnetic properties of the island pretty early. I think it was mid-season I when Sayid just carelessly noted that a compass was broken.

I think the rules for spoilers are that anything that has aired is fair game, and anything that hasn't aired has to be tiny text or in a quote box.

Anyway, Occcam's Razor doesn't really apply, as we saw very clearlly last night. The most simple explanation was that Claire was the one doomed to die. But then it was twisted to be Charlie. I have to say I was extremely worried the whole episode because Claire is still one of my favourites.

Charlie can get annoying, but I'm never one to dislike characters (except for villians) so I'm hoping that something happens so that he doesn't die.
And I hate how they NEVER acknowledge that Charlie has died already. He was dead. Ethan hung him from a tree and he died! But when everyone turned on him last season, no one seemed to remember that he DIED trying to save Claire. So, I guess it fits with the fact that the Universe wants him dead. But at the same time it seems a bit redundant.

I was talking more about the "flashback" than anything else. If you really want to read my idea, then you can highlight it:

SPOILERS!!! wrote:
Desmond has always been able to see the future, but hasn't always known what he has been seeing. The physicist (I think his name was Donovan) heard everything Desmond had to say, but didn't believe him because the game didn't turn out the way he predicted. He'll go home and watch the game later, and realize that Desmond had been telling the truth all along. When Desmond turns up missing, he'll tell Penelope about the Island and the button and stuff, and she'll know exactly how to find him, hence the scene at the end of the Season 2 finale (which the creators have said is very important to the mythology of the show).

Of course, it may be something completely different, but who knows.

I agree with your theory, TOSO, about the scientist telling Penny about the island and hatch and all that, and that why she's looking for him, She knows to look for a strong electromagnetic signal. That would make sense to me.

But what are everyone theories about what actually happend to Desmond after he turned the key?

If he could see the future the whole time wouldn't he have known that flight 813 was going to crash? and that there were people living on the island? This is the part that confuses me. When he turned the key he went back to the day he fell off the ladder. He told the scientist that he thought he had gone back in time. And maybe he did, it was a huge electromagnetic pulse that blew up the hatch, maybe somehow he did go back in time and it took another good whack to the head to send him back to the present.

Then again, maybe he was dreaming the whole thing and the EMP caused a switch to flip in his brain that allowed him to see the future now, and the rest of it was all in his head as a way for him to understand that he could now see the future. But that would discredit the theory about the scientist telling Penny where Desmond went.

From his previous flashbanks he gave no indication that he knew what was going to happen to him. Or did he? I don't think he did. o_O

Right now it's all theory and no proof, unless there is a part I misinterpreted or missed altogether. Right now I am leaning toward the going back in time theory. Thats why no one knew where he was for a while after he turned the key, and also why he was naked when he woke up in the jungle. Lets not forget this is Lost and the supernatural is never out of the question.

What are your thoughts?

Charlie's hanging. It was finally mentioned, and I can now rest easily.
Decent episode. More about how the Others operate. And the TAILIES! So confusing!

Not too impressed by this episode! Can't seem to figure out the point of Jacks flashback. Nothing happened on the island or the flashback. Seems it was all about love. Jack and Juliet in love, Sawyer loves Kate but she doesn't love him. Karl and Alex.

To quote Simon Cowell "Frankly, I was bored"

Yeah, that episode was pretty boring. Still better than the mini-season, though.

I'm much more excited about next week, which from the trailers, looks like it will be

Nothing happened. I think the point was to explain Jack's tattoo, but they really didn't at all, it still doesn't make much sense. I do like Juliet though, she's my new favorite character.

Personally, I can't wait to see more of Isabel. She seems like a very dynamic and fascinating character with an interesting backstory.
