Yep, a total and utter waste of time and space in my opinion. o_O
Some people don't play neo anymore, but still want to be up to date, and some people can't go on neopets at school or work.

If they do not play Neopets any more then why do they care about the news? In any case, you can see the news even when you are logged out.

And if they cannot get Neopets at school or work how are they gonna get PPT? Either way, they should wait until they get home as school is for school and work is for working, not for playing games.

LOL!

What kind of challenge? BTY is challenging, mystery pic is challenging, lenny conundrum is challenging.
If you finish all those in a heartbeat and find that the site is too easy, surprise, it's a kid's site! You're apparently too old, so go away. I don't know what else to tell you because the site probably isn't going to get much more "challenging."

Another challenge, try to beat your own personal scores. I do it with Jelly Blobs of Doom. I enjoy the game, yeah, but I enjoy it more when I'm try to be my own high score. Even if I beat my previous score by one point, I'm still happy. Because at least I know, I succeed in what I went out to accomplish.

But psyco_chick32 basically hit the nail on the head with her comment.

I, as well as many others, am fully aware that there are challenges all the time on Neopets (LC, MP, BTY, etc.), and that we can create our own challenges, much like WolfMaiden has suggested. However, none of these are "new" challenges. Many of these are weekly events. Yes, the actual game you have to beat or picture you have to find is new each time, but the idea behind it is not. The release of new avatars leads to new challenges, as people have to figure out how to get the avatar. The same goes for a new plot or a brand new game. These are the challenges that people are missing...the challenges that tend to lead to the feeling of community and working together. I know that's what I'm missing a lot of lately.

And to some of us older members, Neopets is not a "kids site". It was originally created for college students, and I know that there are many members that age and older who continue to play Neopets. Please don't tell those wonderful people that they are "too old" to play something that was really created for them.

My school lets yuo go to PPT,but not neopets.

It's just that a lot of people feel let down by Neopets and TNT lately because of the way the site has been handled. So much down time, so much lagging, so many glitches, the one thing you can rely on is the News, and as of late even that seems a bit rushed. They only put it out for the sake of putting it out, which isn't really a good reason. Things aren't being released, so what's the point of even creating them?

I'd rather no news, than sloppy news, personally.

For me it isn't the news that's getting boring, but the site in general. I don't nearly play as much anymore as I did a few months ago, besides collecting dailies and sometimes I play around with my neohome. I'm not sure if that's TNT's fault or that I've been playing for so long there aren't much more challenges I haven't done yet.

Lately I am a little frustrated with some things on neo though. First of all the plot prizes. It's been months since the plot ended and it's actually taking TNT more time to verify the plot points then it did counting them in the first place. Second of all items don't get released when they appear in the news. It sometimes takes weeks for them to be released in shops.
I also wonder why they release so much fun images. To me it's useless content. I mean, how many people actually use fun images?

But on a positive note, TNT has released some really good stuff in the news. Such as the Lunar temple, some great pet colours, new and updated games and they finally fixed most of the broken furniture! So not all is bad. :)

I'm sure things will get better eventually.

TNT can't be expected to make up 20 brand new things for your enjoyment every other day. They never have, and until now, no one's ever expected them to. If you want something "new," do something you haven't done before - build and furnish a neohome, collect stamps, create a neodeck, a gallery, the stock market, battle an opponent you've never fought before, try for a high score trophy for your favorite game...

Heh, avatars aren't challenging. After the news is released just pop your head into the avatar chat and there will be a thousand "how 2 get av?" threads with 50 replies with links to the kind of pet you need to visit.

As for plots, you can't expect one after the other after the other. On my lookup I see 6 "site event" trophies, soon to be 7. I've been here for over five years, and 4 out of the 7 are from this past year. We've been absolutely spoiled with plots lately.

I'm sorry you don't like the new games, but there are plenty of games in the games room. Have you mastered them all? Have you even played each individual one? If not, play one and it'll be a "new game."

And I have to insist that Neopets is a kids site. It was originally intended for college students, yes, but that was.... what, 8 years ago? At the time they said they hoped to be the next Pokemon, which wasn't aimed at college students either. The ownership has changed hands multiple times and it's obvious that their target demographic is now preteens or younger. Not to say that that's all who play, but that's who they see most of their money coming from. Hence the McDonalds Happy Meal promotion. College students don't eat Happy Meals. College Students get drunk and obsess over Facebook. Facebook's target demographic is college students. They actually let their users say "*removed*" or talk about their boyfriend/girlfriend or sex or drinking or politics or or or or or....

I'm a college student and I'm perfectly happy playing a kids game, but at least I actually acknowledge that's what it is.

Edit: Ah, my point is proven. Neopets cannot be for college students if their fan sites don't even allow the mildest of swear words. Thanks mods.
Edit2: Where's the huge rolleyes smilie barfing smaller rolleyes smilies when you need it...

I do agree with metal on some things. I mean, last year we have been spoiled with plots and site events. (altador plot, altador cup, shenku logic puzzle, game master challenge AND ToW plot) And we can't expect them to come up with something new and exciting every week.

And there are tons of things to do on neo. If you're bored I'm sure there's something you can try that you never did before. For instance, I got into neohomes.

I'm sure TNT is already ploting and planning this year's events so maybe we should just give them some slack?

That I can agree with, but nowadays alot of things have been kidish. I'm going to be 22 in August, and I've been playing on neo since 2003. {wood_glue18 is my oldest account forgot the password though} So when you think about it, thats about 4 years.

I don't want to say that I'm too old for neopets, I mean, I've been there 4 years now. Its just, theres not really much of a challenge anymore. Like someone said, with a new game, theres a challenge, but that buzz quickly fades.

Even my mate wanted to argue with me. I told him, Neopets is a kids sight, and he replies "it was created for college students" It might have been, lately it seems more directed towards kids. Therefore, its a kids sight. No matter what age group it was originally created for.

See, I generally prefer to hope that the huge plot prize delay and lack of super-duper-exciting news is because they've got something huge and awesome in the works. Let's hope... 8)

PPT is a fan site, yes, however it is a family site where there are younger children on the board. Parental permission afterall is required if you are below the age of 13, which many members are. Because of this we do not allow for even the "mildest of swear words". You bypassed the filter. Simple as that. There are plenty of fan sites out there that allow for crude language, but we are not one of them.

Any further argument on the matter should be taken up via PM.

I stand by my first post in this thread. Because, well, I really didn't find the news interesting this time around.

Now the next news update, could be a different story. There could be some good AG entries, an item or pet color that just knocks my socks off, or a Fun Image that actually stands out, like that Mutant Blumaroo doing the infamous Peanut Butter Jelly Time Banana dance. We'll just have to see.

My point? That there actually was someone who wasn't interested with much of the news items this time around, and not just disappointed with the way Neopets is run now/tired of waiting for plot prizes. :P (Even though I am, on both counts.)

Also, overgeneralizations are bad. Please don't try to rope me into one. It makes me mad. You don't want to see me when I'm...mad.

Personally, I'll find the news boring until we get plot prizes... ;) Technically the only things I really find 'interesting' in the news anymore are avies, prizes, or new games/plots. Other than that I for the most part play my games and chat in the guild. :P

Hey, new board on charter: Plot prizes coming out soon; snarkie has 10 sidebars: the most you can have is 9.
