Wow, An Inconvient Truth won. That's a "surprise".

Colbert had the right idea on 'An Inconvenient Truth':

Clearly I'm the only person in the world who loves Al Gore.
Pan's Labrynth seems to have won quite a lot, which is surprising considering it's not in English.
Were there any upsets/unusual wins apart from Alan Arkin?

I love Al!

Meryl was robbed :( But I loved the Queen lol.

And Jennifer should have sang 'And I am Telling You' over the stop talking music. XD

Al's my boy too!

I honestly didn't know the Oscars were coming until Discovery started advertising counter-programming.

I am glad that Scorsese finally won. Of all the 'big winners,' 'An Inconvenient Truth' is the only movie that I saw, but I had heard a lot of good things about most of the others, so I am glad that they at least got some honors.

I might have watched if I knew Ellen was hosting before today. (Yeah, that is how out of the loop I was). Did she do a good job?

I'm glad that Helen Mirren won, she deserved it.

I'm also very glad that "An Inconvenient Truth" won.. and it didn't just win because it was Al Gores film. It won because it was an honest movie, that really showed the truth about what is happening.. and what will continue to happen if we really don't shape up.

Boooo to Jennifer Hudson winning. Big freaking deal.. Dreamgirls.. it doesn't even hold a candle to the other movies nominated. The Departed, Babel, The Queen, Little Miss Sunshine, The Last King of Scotland, Half Nelson, Little Children, Pans Labyrinth, etc..

All way better films.
I personally think Cate Blanchett should have won best supporting, hands down.

I am very happy with everything else though.
However, I personally would have loved to see "Little Miss Sunshine" or "Babel" win for best picture. But I understand why "The Departed" did.

I really rooted for little Abagail Breslin for Best Supporting Actress. :3 Jennifer Hudson was the obvious winner, though. (Seeing as how she is receiving critical acclaim. Beyonce must be dying. xD)

I could make a pile of rubbish and it would win an award if it was foreign and a little pompous, look at City of God.

(Not dissing Pan, it's cool!)

Gutted that Little Miss Sunshine didn't win Best Picture, I loved it.
I understand Helen Mirren winning Best Actress but I wish she hadn't won all those other awards! The other nominees were great and should have something sometime...

For the most part, I was very happy with the winners- especially with Martin Scorsese. Took long enough. :P

Foreign film, The Lives of Others was also an upset over Pan's. I totally called it though! :O

Happy Feet was over Cars too. Some of the smaller categories were also upsets (Best Song, etc.).

Sorry, I am an Oscar geek!

I was sad to see LMS not win Best Picture, but I guess I wasn't really expecting it. Glad to see Alan win, and see it get Best Original Screenplay too. Go LMS!

Also, Ellen = <3.

I'm going to be brutally murdered for this, but...

I was actually glad LMS didn't win, because even though I liked it, I thought it was really overrated and so er yeah please don't murder me, I like living. *hides*

No way...Little Miss Sunshine > all. *Pets free poster on wall*

I kind of knew that Jennifer would beat Abigail though. I actually didn't think LMS would win anything, but the Oscars aren't always as predictable as say...the Emmys or Grammys. I knew it wouldn't win Best Picture and it didn't.

Actually, I didn't see that many movies that were nominated. I saw LMS, An Inconvenient Truth, United 93, The Devil Wears Prada, and Cars. I have yet to see the ones that got multiple nominations like Dreamgirls, Babel, The Departed, or Pan's Labyrinth.

Ellen was ok, but not the best host. Jon Stewart was good last year, but ABC has the Oscars until 2014 I read, and so Jon Stewart is on Comedy Central which is owned by Viacom which owns CBS, so I doubt he'll be hosting again soon. I would love if Conan hosted because he made the Emmys actually watchable.
