In a recent interview with TV Guide, Jeff Probst had this to say about a Canadian location for reality show "Survivor" and a general colder location,

Quote:
All of the destinations for Survivor are somewhere where it’s really hot. Any chance you’ll do one where it’s minus 40 degrees in the winter like northern Canada?

JP: You know, we have talked about Canada believe it or not. We had a long discussion about it for these two upcoming seasons. And we’re still on the fence about it. We see a lot of positives that would be new and different. And then there’s some negatives, you know, because physically you tend to shut down when you get cold. You don’t do as much. You’re going to be wearing parkas and hats and boots. And you’re not going to be in bikinis. Challenges become a little different so there’s pros and cons. I think though that Mark is probably leaning towards truly considering a colder climate, especially if the show goes on further because it’s hard, to find locations.

Looks like Survivor is heading to China for the fifteenth installment of the series,

Quote:
Mark Burnett and gang continue to make history with their latest Survivor twist

Quirkiest thing ever cooked up by Survivor:
a) exiling castaways to an island with no food or shelter
b) dividing the castaways by race
c) starving half the castaways while pampering the other half
d) hauling the show to a communist country

My vote’s for D. The fifteenth season of Survivor will be filmed in China, making Mark Burnett’s gem the very first series to be entirely filmed in a communist country.

This marks the first time the show will not filmed on an island setting since season six, which took place in the Amazon jungle. Other off-island settings have included Australia and Africa.

No word yet on any of the juicy details: who the castaways will be, where exactly it’s filming, or what the shiny new twists will be, but the real question is who gets final say on the finished product. According to Reuters, when The Painted Veil filmed there last year, the government objected to some of the final scenes, leading to some tension between Edward Norton, director John Curran and Chinese officials.

Definately going to check out the premiere, hopefully it's good. Survivor has gotten so boring, I haven't watched this season at all and I missed half of last season.

Finally a good idea! So many in my family have been wanting them to get sent to Siberia or something for so long. Not that I'd watch it if it were set in Canada. (Got boring after the first 1.3 seasons).

Suggestion for the title: Survivor: Yukon, so the punishment/banishment zone or whatever can be sending them back to the US for a day or whatever they do now :P

Oh! Also, for one of their tasks, they can help Al Gore save the polar bears! :P

You're kidding, right? The only person who can save polar bears is Walt.

Forget Canada! Go for Survivor: Antarctica! That would be interesting.

And Australia isn't?
Trust me. Our northern territories... are vast and unused. They're hardly over developed. If you check out where our populations are accumulated they're generally far south (in Canada). Canada is the second biggest country in the world, and we've only got a pop of 33 million. We're hardly over developed. If they were to take Survivor to any of the territories they could easily find enough space.

http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/english/maps/health/resources/physician/physicians_figure2.gif Canada population map (quite a common one too)

Yeah. Norther Canada, like Nunavut Territories, isn't very developed.
I was watching a special a while back on the Alaskan Frontier, and they said that parts of Canada in the north were the same way. Of course, that special was from the eighties...XD

As for Australia...there's a lot of wilderness there.

I think they need to do one on Irimote Islands in Okinawa. XD It's like eighty percent unspoiled forest.
Just hope you survive living with Yamamaya.

And there's not a lot of wilderness in Canada? Clearly you do not fly over my country very often.

And Alaska is becoming quite commercialized along the coastal areas, i'm not sure if it's more so then Canadian territories, but I know they have a massive tourist industry; which I don't really hear about in Canada.

And to be honest, i'm tired of their tropical/wet island living. Throw them in the midst of the desert again or in tundra; and then we'll see who really survives. (I vote team Grizzly Bear!)

Agreed. That was awesome. But they seriously need to vote off Dreams. How annoying. I was sad Michelle got the boot too, but I kinda like Stacy (art student and all), so hopefully she doesn't get booted next.
