Now I may be lambasted for liking this music, but I've just recently really taken to Regina Spektor. She's got a totally unique style to almost all of her songs, and she has a great voice. She's not afraid of mixing up songs and trying new and weird things, and she's a big bookworm/booknerd, because a fair amount of her songs are literarily based. My favorites right now are Fidelity and Baobabs (it's based off of The Little Prince, which was an awesome book). My sister happens to be a fan of Samson though, so you should probably check out that song too.
