Sooo . . . I'm hearing a rumor that for Lutari Day, they're going to have a 5th pet spot.

I don't believe it.

BUT . . . said rumor has it that somebody read something about it in the magazine. And since I'm 21 and therefore far too old to go into a Limited Too and buy a neopets magazine, I have no idea about any of those.

If it's another Premium feature, I'm going to cry.

And then buy Premium.

I don't think they will let us have five pets. I'd adopt another if I could. I'd probably be mad that I helped so many people name pets, because I helped people get some very great names! But anyway, I just don't see neopets letting us have five pets, and if it was rumored about in the mag, it would be all over the boards and fan websites and everything.

Sometimes people talk about an extra spot at the create a pet place. Like it looks like there is an extra spot there, then that means a limited pet will go up there and you can make one. I am not sure that really happens though, as I am not able to use create a pet. But I think people have said sometimes a blank spot appears there before you can adopt an limited pet.

Doubt it. Even if they were going to do it, why would they do it only Lutari day? It doesn't make sense for them to pick a pet day to do it on.

Additionally, tons of people have read the Neopets Magazine and haven't mentioned it. I highly doubt this person is the only person to have noticed something like that (especially when so many people crave another pet slot).

I'm writing it off as somebody seeking attention on the neoboards.

Yeah, I saw about the extra spot thing on the create-a-pet, but this rumor is about the fifth slot. I don't think they would either, but I really want to know if it was in the magazine or not. I agree, if it really was I'd figure it'd be blazing through message boards everywhere.

On Neopet's birthday a few years ago they made a joke about "You can now have FIVE pe- just kidding LOL!!!!!!" which made me believe that they had it planned for sometime... It was so long ago though, but I still keep hope that they must've meant something by it, or why else would they've put it in the news?

I don't believe neoboard rumors, but I hope this one turns out to have some truth to it. There are so many avatars I need, plus new painted colors I want that weren't around when I decided on my current 4...

But why does everyone make such a big deal about five pets anyway? I always hear lots of talk about wanting a fifth pet, but why? One more pet is not a big deal, we'll still need side accounts for more pets.

I wouldn't care if they gave us a fifth spot, Only if they upped it to something more reasonable, like eight, ten, or twenty.

i'd like it cause i already have 4 and i'm a bit weary with all the talk of unfair freezings to make a side account

I zap pets from the lab and then pound them for people! I always thought that would be so fun, but I don't have room now. But as far as being able to provide for an extra pet, I can do that. I keep my pets fed most of the time too. There have been a few times I've gotten busy with school and stuff and I forgot to feed them, but I actually want to keep my pets fed. LOL. Some people don't bother, because they are just pixels they say. But the point of the game is to pretend, so I pretend they do get hungry and I need to feed them like a real pet.

Eh, I'm happy with my two main pets now, and I have my slot for a zapping pet for possible avatars and adoption once a cool color is obtained.

Of course, if they did do that, Adam would need 6 pets.

I think a fifth pet spot would be useful because I'm one of those people who has had the same 4 pets since my first month or so on the site. By this point, I'm so completely attached to them that I can't even think of disowning a single one of them, but I'd like another one. I'm not interesting in having a side account--all my time and effort has gone into one account and I don't want to be continually logging on and off just to take care of one pet on an account I don't want for any other purpose.
I think an extra pet slot should either be:
A) Available after some length of time on the site, such as one year, or
B) Available for some set price such as one million Neopoints.

That way you have to think about it before you just rush off and create that pet. You decide what you want, you settle on species and color, and you're not just going "OMG another pet cool!"

But if just four is not enough, why is just five? That was my point. If they were ever going to give us more pets, I think I'd be stupid to just give us one more, they should give us a couple more, enough so we didn't need side accounts.

Still, if they gave us five... wouldn't that be better than just four? Things have to go slowly, you know -- you can't get a thousand things done at once and adjusting to taking care of five pets may take awhile.

That's why I made the point of not getting the slot immediately after signup. I was one of those kids who just went COOL PETS COOL. I didn't understand the concept of Limited Edition, so I thought I couldn't ever get LE pets. I didn't realize that later I was going to really like this pet or that pet. And after all this time, after the dozens of pets that have been released since I signed up, wouldn't it make sense for me to be allowed to get one without having to change one of my existing pets?

Well, increasing from 4 pets to 5 would give you a total of 25 possible pets, obviously, as opposed to 20. Many people have filled 5 accounts with pets yet still want more, obviously, 5 extra pet slots would certainly help them. Really, there is no reason as to why we can't have more slots, except a minimal increase in information stored.

They're limiting it for the sake of limiting it. I can understand it up to the extreme figured, but 20 pets for a site that has 50 species and however many colours seems slightly unfair and unnecessary, especially considering that the site has grew massively since those guidelines were put into place. That said, I don't think this rumour is true.
