I received the following:

Quote:
You have received an official warning from the Neopets Team for violating the Neopets Terms and Conditions. Do not discuss adult real world topics or situations on this site. This is an all-ages site where some topics are not appropriate. This includes issues such as pregnancy, drugs, suicide, sexual orientation, health issues, abuse, etc. We want to make Neopets a comfortable atmosphere for all of our users - so we will warn/freeze accounts for discussions of this nature. If you continue to break the rules, your account will be permanently frozen. To see a list of Neo Rules, please visit http://www.neopets.com/chatrules.phtml. Please do not reply to this NeoMessage.

I have NEVER used improper language. I don't even say the word "krap" in my guild postings. Recently we've been saying the word "adult" in our guild a lot, because we were discussing whether to keep the guild 18+ or to allow children in. Is there any way for me to contact them about an incorrect warning? I never thought this would happen to me, because I'm usually careful to the point of paranoia.

That happened to me too, it's an automatic warning for saying specific words. You probably got a message that a word was blocked, but it sends you a warning message too.

I was talking about a friend that died recently and what set it off was the word suicide. I think the blocked warning is good enough... I wouldn't talk about it if I knew.

The confusing thing is that I haven't had a word blocked. I think I figured out why I was warned, though. I had a petpage with some information about my guild members. It stated that one of the members was the husband of another member. Now the petpage has been restored to default.

I am really smurf off, because the only reason I put that information up was because an official Neopets editorial said it was okay to do so. On this page: it says "Simply mentioning that your boyfriend has an account or that your Neopet and another Neopet are close is fine." That's all I did. I simply stated that the wife of a guild member had an account. There was no romantic role-playing, and no details of any kind about marriage.

If you've used the word "18+" in those discussions, it might be the one that get's flagged.. It might give the wrong idea o_O :P

We did use the term "18+" a lot. That's probably what got their notice to begin with. I'm the only one who got a warning, though. I'm assuming it must have been my petpage that got me warned.

It really makes the neopets staff look incompetent when they can't keep their rules consistant. It's okay to use the word "boyfriend" but not the words "husband" and "wife". If it was a real person who made the decision to issue a warning to me, it must have been somebody so rushed for time that they didn't bother to actually read what was on the page. I did state the husband-wife relationship of two users, but that's all I did. There was nothing romantic and definitely nothing sexual about what I wrote.

Yvonne, I got a 24 hour suspension for that same reason several weeks ago. Discussing "adult real life issues." And I have been playing for over 4 years, am an adult, lead a guild, paid for premium for over 2 years, and have multi-multi-millions at risk. So, needless to say, I bend over backwards to follow the rules. I got it immediately after I wrote a neomail to my second in command in my guild to let her know that I was scheduled for a hysterectomy and that she might have to take over for a while. I used the words hysterectomy, cancer, and biopsy in my neomail. And got the suspension for discussing "adult real life issues" which includes "health issues." It was a private neomail to another adult--we are both premium members. And IT WAS PRIVATE! I would never mention that on the neoboards or even on my guild board, but in a neomail to a fellow adult and only so she could know why I wasn't going to be around? Give me a break! I was in tears. Nothing like having your doctor tell you that you are having a serious operation and then a couple hours later have your 4 plus year account suspended. I called Neopets and the guy who answered was so sympathetic. But said that he didn't have the power to unsuspend me. Only the Neopets staff did. I wrote Neopets. But never, ever got a response. Over 40 percent of the people who play Neopets are adults. The words I used were adult. I will agree. But nothing that can't be said on prime time TV. And it was a private conversation between paying adult members. Anyone who read it would have seen that it was a necessary communication between guild council members. So, I just don't get TNT's reasoning. Though, let me tell you ever since that suspension, I am being a real "good girl." Even when I see user names like hotsexygurl on the shop wiz. Ever get the feeling they are going after the wrong people? Maybe TNT might want to take a step back and see that the majority of people paying for their game are adults, and maybe, if done discreetly, they should be allowed to use words that are allowed on prime time TV.

I agree with you morningstar. I do think they go after the wrong people. I wish they would take more care reviewing the warnings, even if it means hiring more staff. I have never used the word "sexy" or the derivatives like "sexeh" on guild or neoboards. Yet there are 13 year olds so mesmerized by those words, and when they post on the less populated forums they get ignored by the monitors. I would not consider "hysterectomy" or "wife" to be words that could corrupt an innocent.

I know that the other language boards are very corrupt, there are so inappropriate things on there, not to mention the scamming and outright cheating talked about there too.

I don't think they should only focus so much on the english moderating, the others get lost.
