April 27 News - New Site Layout (Revamp to 1024x768)

I am aware that I'm in the minority here. I think it did look old and that it required an update. I know most of you disagree. And you're allowed to disagree. Isn't free will amazing that way?

Is it just the pets I'm looking at, or does every single pet in existence enjoy gathering food, and when meeting others it would act very friendly

I guess I'll wait to see if TNT gives us the option of our normal .gif pets back until I freak out any further. *hugs whack-a-staff gold trophy and goes to play it some more*

Well, at least the petpages don't seem to have been affected. Thank God. Mine still have their backgrounds, but the backgrounds in my shop and my galleries are gone. Oh well, hopefully, TNT will get that fixed. After all, if we can have the backgrounds on our petpages, why not in our shops and galleries?

I agree. Every site seems to be adding flash menus and all sorts of crap that takes forever to load and makes a page look too cluttered.

My shop still has its background sort of, but my resolution is a bit funky at 1280x800 so that might be why.

Those pets in my account AREN'T the pets that I made.
They are REALLY ugly and a WANT my pets back.

The only pet I've managed to keep in the old style is my Mutant Scorchio. I must say the uni looks better. I allways hated the new one and this one is slighy improved. As it looks more horsy.

I finally make a top notch userlookup page that I absolutley adore and pwns hardcore and neopets goes and revamps the whole site, making it look super wierd and yeah ... gonna be honest ... I think it looks terrible and I want the old layout back now.

Admittedly, while I like most of the redraws, I am not a big fan of the Lutari. I'm hoping that that little phrase in the New Features means that I'll be able to do something about it. But I really like the other ones and I like that I have a choice on whether or not I convert my Faerie Yurble.

That's why I've allways strived to make my own pages easy to navigate and I take care on the image rendering. A lot of sites save their images at the highest quality compresion even though it looks the same smaller. Then there's tacky flashy things, too many images, too many banners/buttons/etc.

Doesn't look like there'll be any change though. I doubt they wasted so much time on this thinking they'd move it if people didn't like. I just wish they could have spent the time on a new plot instead...

So if our user look-up is all messed up, it will remain that way, right? Someone else did mine for me and they aren't around, and the one's on PPT won't work anymore either (right?). Do you think the people at PPT who make them up will change them soon? Or can you recommend others' sites where they will be posting user look-ups that can be used by us non-technical types? Thanks!

I'm having a bit of trouble finding things, and of all the changes I think the Pet Central changes are the roughest ones, but overall I think I can get used to it. I think in many ways it is an improvement - you can see more than one thing on a page now - but on the other hand, it is very busy and hard to get used to.

Unfortunately, I think it will probably take a while for sites and petpages with premades and html-help to be updated. TNT completely recoded the site, so it will take a while before people start to figure out what's possible and how to do it.

Or give me an 800 x 600 version. I can't function on anything higher. My vision's bad enough as it is--any higher and I start straining to see things.
I don't WANT all this clutter. I don't NEED to see a picture of my pet on the side. I don't CARE which of my Neofriends are online, because they're all on AIM where I can talk to them.
The new Quick Ref pictures are tiny and blurry, and the Grey Kougra looks HAPPY. ARRGH.(Do the other Grey pets all have delighted grins on their faces?)
If they don't give us an 800 x 600 option or a way to remove the side clutter, I believe this will drive me off the site.

For those who have specific problems(like the new pet look, lack of customization, or resolution change) with the new lookup, here's my suggestion: avoid Neopets this weekend(Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Don't even collect dailies. That sort of drop in pageviews will show them exactly how much you hate the new look and your specific issues. And if they don't address these issues, you can always leave the site. I'd hate to do it, but I'm not about to change my resolution just for Neopets.

WHY IS HE STILL WEARING THE FREAKING PANTS? HE DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE A WEREWOLF ANYMORE.

Some of these new images are pretty, but they lack flair. There's nothing original or interesting about them. I keep going..."This isn't Neopets." And it's not just the redesign of the site and pets. Neopets just keeps getting more and more bland. It used to be quirky, and now it's just like every other site out there.
And yes, I'm really upset. I never thought Neopets would turn on the 800 x 600 people. This redesign feels like a slap in the face--"Go ahead! Leave the site! You're no longer important to us."
