It really is amazing to me how very upset some people are getting over the changes. It's like someone died in their family. I'm not saying it to be mean or critical, I'm just amazed.

I don't get why you're so shocked. Neopets is obviously a big part of most our lives or we wouldn't be here. A lot of us have invested years into the site and it's changing really fast and not necessarily for the better. I understand if you don't share our feelings, but you don't have to be so belittling.

Someone posted how there are different basic colors now for the top bar. I went to my side account and tried them out, and they're great. I like how the font color matches the basic color you choose. It's nice to have choices.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I've just gotten on my laptop--which is designed for 1280 x 800, and anything else looks blurry and stretched. Now I look at Neopets and go, "Wha? So much random blank space on either side?!"
Compare: 800x600 and 1280x800
I know 1024x768(or whatever it is) is the most common resolution, but if you look at the first chart in the first post, that's still only about 40% of all computers. They're not even appealing to a majority here. Neopets is useable at 1280x800, but it doesn't look any better than it did before. I can't believe they didn't consider that, you know?

how come your top banner is larger than mine. . . is it because i'm blocking that ad? I haven't seen a neopet ad in about a year now, i really don't know what i'm missing. I blocked them fiercely as soon as they were introduced.

I don't know. The big top banner ad space at the top is back. And all the other blocked ads are much of the time on solid black squares. Yuck!

What I wish for is for TNT to reconsider this and just go back or make the severe changes less .. severe (especially on my eyes and brain).

I finally broke down and really cried about this. I shut my Neo favorites bar off, closed all my neo pages and .. I don't know something just died in me. I no longer am excited to go on and do dailies, much less play games.

If anyone out there is good with CSS, I wonder if you can tell us if there are external style sheets we can use to at least, say, get rid of the glaring box outlines and perhaps change sizes of things to make them so I don't feel like I have to immediately go to an eye doctor and get a new prescription for glasses that magnify as powerful as a microscope!

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate the overuse Flash and javascript. What ever happened to good old HTML? I don't have a T1 line or anything, but I just refuse to wait for 7 seconds to open a standard Neopets page. Especially when a standard page now contains useless redundent things.

If it's not broken, don't fix it. I didn't think anything was wrong with the way things were. Again they just cleaned up Pet Central and the only thing that ever bothered me about that even was the lame message there for so long saying "we know it's messy, bear with us" (seemed unprofessional to me to admit such and leave that there for years). It was not even that messy. Three or four categories of games makes it far easier to 'guess' where my game will be listed. Any more is unnecessary.

I just can't think of words to best describe the horrible decision-making process that lead to this. I can't believe that people are 'getting used to it.' It is kind of like enjoying a flavor of ice cream for years, then the manufacturer changes your beloved vanilla to a 'sweaty old socks' flavor. I am sorry but I am not going to aquire a taste for sweaty old socks just because someone in management has such perverse taste buds.

The lab changed my pet from yellow to brown today, but the pet module thing still shows him as yellow. Same for my lookup. Is this a bug, or do I have to manually do something to fix it?

PS I still hate it.

As i mentioned before I just hope that with all the modules Neo is going to go into the process of letting you pick what you would like to see on ALL pages. I hope that is the POINT of having everything in modules. I am simply assuming it is. I really didnt think of the neofriends online thing bothering anyone but hopefuly they will implement it like a messenger that you can go 'invisable' if you want or at the LEAST have it so only your VIP friends can see if your online or off.

I had more to say but my bowl of icecream distracted me. *offers vanilla with chocolate surup to everyone*

Refreshing worked but 2 times out of 10 the same problem occured. Possibly something to do wit Adblock?

Well, you can increase and decrease text size, which might help. Just hold down the CTRL key and scroll your mouse wheel or up or down.


If you want to block the sidebar, which is a big help just by itself
-if you have chromedit installed on your browser (Mozilla/firefox users only), go to Tools, then click "Edit User Files," and click on the userContent tab. At the very bottom, type this line:

-I have not learned how to do that for just neopets, mind you.

-You can do the same in your user style sheets in Internet Explorer, though I don't know how. Vivian58 brought up the possibility in a post in the first thread.

Finally, the sidebar is in a table data box. So you won't be able to move that to the right side of the page, as far as I know.

Anyway, the dropdown menus, as far as I can tell, aren't flash or Java. I believe they're just a really neat use of CSS involving z-indexing the menu itself. When you mouse over it, that changes the index and brings the menu to the front of the page. Normally, it's the bottom layer.

As far as the layout goes, I don't consider it that bad. As some people have mentioned, I do like some of their default site themes besides the basic yellow. I have a feeling that they will eventually allow us to pick and choose some of the modules. At least they better.

I would have been supportive of the changes if it had been just the layout. I can't stand the pet redraws. My xweetok now looks like mickey mouse. She used to look kind and compassionate and loving.

I think it's goping to take some SERIOUS getting used to, I feel confused, not like I can take my normal relaxing stroll through my daily activities!

That is the main thrust of it for me. It is not relaxing anymore to just come onto Neo and have the wander through all the dailies and rituals that one gets into.
