Well, since my reasoning for liking a guild isn't listed, I'll just tell you :) When I used to be in a guild, it was because of the people and the discussions we used to have. It didn't have anything to do with the theme or contests. Just the great people.

My answer is somewhat close to mayanspypilot's. I like the things they talk about (the Neopets Stock Market) and because they offer nice advice on which stocks to buy and sell. If I can figure out which answer this goes with, I'll vote.

I kind of stay away from guilds where all the members are good friends. A lot of times they're friendly, but I still feel like the outsider no matter how many discussions I hop in on. I also try to avoid the trendy guilds where all the snarky sarcastic members hang out. Definitely not my thing.

I voted for 'topic' in the poll, because thats true enough. None of the other things are as important if I hate what the guilds about.

I like having a place to chitchat about neo-related things, such as getting a game avie, doint plots, etc. And I also like talking about real life things once in a while.

I think it's a combination of topic and people. Like Mayan said, the people and the discussions are very important. The topic is more like the hook, the reason for joining, and the people are a reason to stick around.
But I haven't been in a guild in years. I've actually tried to find one I liked for some time now, but nothing's caught my fancy.

Well...the topic is what makes me join, and the people and activity is what makes me stay there, so all three of those.

I like a friendly and active guild. I really like having a place where you can chat, get help, make jokes and basically have a good time. I don't care too much about a topic or activities, although those are nice. It's really about the people and atmosphere for me. :)

The thing that'll attract me to a guild is if it is somehow involved in avatar collecting. Once I join, my interest obviously shifts to the people.

I'm not much of a guild person these days, but when I was it was because of the conversations I had with the other members. I had ridiculous amounts of fun chatting with Alex back in 2004 when we were bizarrely the only two active members of my guild. If I could find another close-knit guild with entertaining people I liked chatting with, I'd definitely join. :)

I enjoy the activities and help that some guild give you. Chatting with friends you make is great too. Unfornutely, I don't spend as much time in my guild as I should. :(
