Hi everyone :) I just have a couple of questions about this issue:
1. Apart from the lab ray, strange potion and fighting the lab ray scientist in the battledome is there any other method to change a female neopet back into a male one?
2. For the past year I have been trying to get the secret lab ray scientist to challenge me by manually refreshing the lab ray page for around 15minutes daily. So far I have been unsuccessful so I've almost given up trying to get it one my main acccont. Is it against the rules to manually refresh on a side account in the hope that I receive him as a challenger?
3. If the above is allowed and IF I am successful (or if I received him as a challenger during a RE) would I be allowed to use the pound (when it's working properly!) to transfer my pet to the side account then fight him so that my poor pet can finally become male again?

Are you refreshing on the correct page? The page to refresh is http://www.neopets.com/lab2.phtml .

Also, it isn't worth risking losing the pet just to change its gender back. Just use the lab on it every day, and it'll eventually become male again.

Thanks for the quick response :) To answer your questions, yep that's the page I refresh on, but so far still no sign of the scientist. I could use the lab ray but I don't want to risk my pet changing colour (or worse, species!). I know that using the pound is also a risk, but I transfer pets between accounts quite often and I've never lost a pet yet. I think I'd rather take the risk of having my pet lost in transfer (as I have enough faith in my pounding ability) than the risk of the lab changing my pet's colour or species (which is totally dependent on luck!)...and of course, this is all hypothetical, as I haven't even got the scientist on any of my accounts yet :( lol.

Hold down F5 when you're on the page for a while then keep checking your BD challenger list every so often. You'll get it eventually! Don't worry about anyone thinking you're cheating, they know there's a diference between holding F5 and turning on an auto program for over an hour and won't warn/freeze for it.

It'll work soon enough. I've done the gender change successfully many times myself when I used to lab pound pets. =)

I wouldn't risk that. They don't know the difference, and I seem to recall someone getting suspended for too many pageviews in a short amount of time.
My personal thing is to click fifty times, waiting about a second between clicks, then close all the pages and check the challenger list. It's not completely risk-free(nothing on Neopets is, these days) but it's a lot safer.

To answer your other questions, yes you can refresh for the Lab Scientist on your side, and yes transferring pets from one account to another is OK. It is, of course, not a risk-free process, although not really that bad if you know what you're doing.

I've never had a problem getting the scientist on any of my accounts, though.

Are you literally just holding the f5 key down? Maybe it's not giving the page a chance to load.

After you get the Scientist as a challenger, how does he change the gender of your pet exactly?

One of his weapons changes a pet's gender. Strange Potion, to be exact.

Thanks. It figures that I have been labbing my now "main" pet all this time trying to get "her" to change back into a male. So I get all excited that I can go fight the scientist...except we're in the middle of a plot and all the 1 Player opponents are missing!

I've heard that the Cape of the Sun can also change a pet's gender. Is this true?

The Cape of the Sun trick was a glitch. Recently tnt fixed it so that no longer works.

And schnozberry go to the battledome like you were going to fight the Ravenous Monster, select the pet you want to change genders from the menu, and instead of clicking on the Ravenous Monster type javascript:MakeOnePlayerChallenge(104) in the address bar and hit enter. You'll go to fight the lab ray scientist. You can do this for any bd opponent as long as you know the number to enter in the text. In this case 104 is the lab ray scientist.

No I don't use f5 because I'm worried that TNT wouldn't be able to distinguish it from an autorefresher. I just manually click on the refresh symbol as fast as I can.
