For Neopets ONLY discussion.

Thanks Morningstar for saying that so nicely. It may be 'cheap' for people that are able to work, that do work, that have an income. I am disabled and unable to work, have zero income, and am on food stamps so there is hardly anything I can 'treat' myself to or go out of my way to 'afford'.
I don't have much in the way of a life savings either (and it's dwindling fast) and I am certainly not about to use it up on a service like Premium.
I have always thought that if Neopets really wanted to make more money and get off the ads, they should charge us ALL a measly 10 cents a day or something like that. Something along the lines of my "poverty-line" telephone service of ~ $3 per month. They could still have Premium, they could scale down the current free site and keep that free (perhaps limiting access to some areas, much in the same way most of us can't access Lutari Island without having a cell phone and paying for the services), but they could start charging us all for what most of us currently enjoy and I bet that most of us would understand such a business move and stick around. I remember a while back some businesses used to add their charges to your telephone bill instead of requiring a credit card to pay. Perhaps they could arrange something like that in the future so as to not alienate the younger users that may not be a slave to Visa or MC yet.
It might even result in more people actually reading through the T&C if in one click they can authorize Neopets to add a charge to a phone bill.
Anyway, I digress ... It's better when I just keep my foot in my mouth.

You're welcome, Anjuna. A good friend of mine became disabled due to a work accident and he is currently going through the worker's comp/SSI disability process. And his situation has really brought me down to earth and humbled me greatly. I am very fortunate to be where I am in life and saddened that others, through no fault of their own, aren't as fortunate.
Your idea about adding a monthly charge to the phone bill is an excellent idea. You should submit it to Neopets.

There is also the idea that we should not have to pay any amount (however measly)
for bad, inconsistant, non-existant, or inane services.
*looks over local tax bill* Crap!

Good one, stampsyne. Very, very true.

You seem to have trouble with reading comprehension (or maybe all the responses to your post on the
other thread were too long for you to read). Here, I'll boil it down into two nice short sentences for you.
1. Some of us refuse to pay for premium because we won't support a site that treats its paying users so badly.
2. Some of us can't pay for premium because we barely have enough money to eat.
Pay for a site with customer service that doesn't get back to you for months? No thanks. Premium or food? Food. It is, as you say, a no-brainer.

And you know what? I have a job and enough money to eat (and pay for my cable modem) -- knock on wood. However, I'm not rolling in so much cash that I don't have to worry about where it goes. Spending $70 on premium is $70 I can't spend on something else (or put into my savings). If I can get adblocking for free, I'd rather have that, thanks.

What is up with you brining these threads back from the dead?

Siouxper, I noticed the same thing yesterday. And you aren't seeing what originally occurred. I brought it to the attention of a mod, who was so very sweet to lock a few of the threads and delete some bad posts and bad links. And another mod took action on another area of Neopets (where this same person decided to strike as well). As far as I am concerned, these mods should be getting fresh baked chocolate chip cookies on a daily basis for their dedication to keeping this site free from flotsam.
And Cranberry???? High five! You go, girl. You said it oh so very well. ((hugs))

I don't think 3 months is considered dead. 3 years, yes - 3 months, no.

I think the case here is that this can lead to new discussion, whereas in some resurrections of threads, its just rehashing the same thing over and over again. Its when we can't see any logical place for the thread to progress to that the thread is locked for resurrection.

I think it depends on the traffic of the board. This topic would be 15 pages back if iceyi hadn't posted anything. In my mind, that counts as resurrection.

Plus, the original question was answered long ago -- blockng ads is not against the rules, while blocking other things (such as javascript or unprofitable shop items) is. The poster only resurrected this thread to start an argument.

Yeah, but it has its merits, Cranberry. Your post about premium was utter perfection. And I am not trying to bribe you into giving me a cookie or anything. And, gosh, if the thread hadn't resurrected, we wouldn't have gotten to see that. Like I said, earlier, high five. Anytime, anyone brings up premium again, I shall refer them to your post.

Morningstar! You're the responsible one around here; you shouldn't be encouraging me to be a jerk.
*gives cookie*

This thread was only started to rehash an old argument that had been settled. It doesn't need to be rehashed and I should have locked it last night.
So locked now.
