Absolutely fascinating. At least I'm not gonna be about for most of it. :)

Hear hear. It was pretty neat. But shouldn't the title of the topic be (astronomy), not (astrology)?

Nifty.

I'd love to watch our galaxy collide with another; sure, I'd probably die, but it'd be fun to watch.

Give it about Nineteen Billion years and the Universe will be torn apart at the Quantum level, with humans surviving until the last moments of existence.

Or Entropic heat death. That would suck a bit more.

I read somewhere that, if we stayed somewhat in the same area of the galaxy as were are in now, we might survive it. At that point in time we'd probably have planetary force fields to protect us from all of the heat and radiation anyway.

Well, it's certainly a good thing that I'm not planning to be around for any of that...but I must say it's fascinating to see those kinds of predictions. I mean, we've all see recreations of the past on Earth in middle school science, but it's much more interesting to see what scientists predict will happen in the future...

We have them now. Ish. Not on that scale but yeah, plasma shields to protect Astronauts from solar radiation are in full development.

Piece of trivia; The Andromeda galaxy is currently (IE; By our observation) Undergoing catastrophic neutron burst.
It's dead, devoid of anything but the most basic forms of life.

I personally don't really think the human race is going to live that long to see it happen. We're nearing 7 billion people and I have the feeling we'll run out of resources before the sun explodes into us. Unless we decide to divide some of our population to live on the moon or Mars.

All in all, very nifty find.
*booming voice* SO NOW YOU KNOW...

The moment we figure out higher dimensional travel and a form of an ansible, humanity will all but abandon Earth.

Why sit around waiting for our own planet to die when you can be busy polluting the rest of the universe?
