it's going to have an £18 RRP here.

Cheaper if you pre order, by a hell of a lot. *makes note to preorder soon*

I can't make heads nor tails of that last one, other than a stargate but I think it might be wishful thinking on my part.

I resized them so they wouldn't stretch the page. Mugglenet has the full sized pictures.

Is it just me, or does it look like the Enterprise is coming out of the side of the school building on the UK standard one? I know it's supposed to be clouds, but...
{yes, I am a Star Trek geek}

Oh my. I'm just not feeling these at all, especially the US cover. The aging on Harry's been done well--he looks seventeenish--but the colors feel all wrong for a book with "Deathly Hallows" in it.
They do have some interesting features, though. Notice Harry's wearing what looks like Slytherin's locket? And is he in a Quidditch arena? He looks to be on a broomstick.

(And I agree, that looks like it could easily be some sort of starship.)

I also think that the US cover bites the big one. It looks like he's saying something like, "Observe, it is sunset!" If I'm going to be reading a book titled Deathly Hallows I want the cover to be a tad more deathly. And a little less orangey.

The aging on Harry isn't all that impressive either. He still looks 14 to me.

I think Harry is reaching out for love or something. Like he can just grab the love in the air. Voldemort seems to be trying to stop Harry from getting it. Everyone is watching Harry and Voldemort. It is like they are in a colloseum or something. Maybe everyone loves Harry and he can just get the love out of the air. Voldemort can't get any because no one loves him. Anyway, neither has a wand at all. So Harry I guess is the only one that can do anything, if love is the only weapon that can be weilded and only Harry can get the love, then I guess he will win. Voldemort is like "Oh &*@T! NOOOOO!"

I think the ending is going to be kind of cheesy like that. Like everyone loves Harry and he can just grab the love out of the air. Voldemort will be like "Some of that love has to be for me..right...anyone..someone...Oh come on..LOVE ME!"

lol

He is going to be begging for love and it will be too late.

So cheesy but that is probably how it might end. This is a childrens book after all.

The first three books maybe, but the rest of the books? I don't know of any childrens books that have so much murder and death.

I should be too mature to make these types of comments, but I'm not. Check out Hermione's face on the UK children's cover. I would expect that look to be on a girl featured on more adult fare. And I *still* think it looks like a Mad magazine cartoon.

I actually adore the US version. There are so many subtle little clues that will be feeding the theory fire until July 21. My main questions after really looking at it:

Where are they? On one hand it looks as if they're outside because of the lighting. It looks like either sunup or sundown. BUT they could be in the great hall - where the sky is enchanted to look like the weather outside. However, they could also be in the Ministry of Magic. OR they could be behind the veil. There are tattered curtains on either side of the cover - maybe thats the "death" room in the background. The columns and circular walls certainly LOOK like an arena of some sort. Maybe they're on the Quidditch pitch?

Who (or what) are those shadowy figures in the background? Are they *watching* the faux-duel (neither Harry nor Voldy have wands)? Who are they supporting? Are they people at all?

What's up with the lack of Wands? Both Harry and Voldy appear to be reaching out to something. (And randomly, this looks a LOT like the SS/PS cover). Harry looks very confident and powerful - he's not looking at Voldy, anticipating an attack. He's either conjuring up the finishing blow OR reaching out for something. Due to Voldy's defensive stance and out stretched hands (like they're fending off something and his retreating away - due to the way his robes are blowing) I think Harry is about to get something good. I personally think its going to be Fawkes the Phoenix. Who knows though - Harry could be catching something he summoned with accio.

Is Harry taunting Voldy? Look around his neck - he's wearing the locket. Harry is subtly telling Voldemort, by wearing it, that he not only KNOWS about the Horcruxes -- he found them.

What just blew up? Notice the burned out rocks and timber scattered around the bottom. Looks like a house was just destroyed. Of all the ones we know about... which one is it? Godric's Hollow? The Burrow? Snape's Hovel? Grimmauld Place?

And those are just my initial questions and observations. I'm sure I'll have more later on!

I don't mind the covers actually. I kind of like the U.S. one. Besides, it's not like I'm buying the book for the cover.

Remember Potter Puppet Pals?
