Just a quick note about image sizes: Any images over 500 pixels wide still need to be linked to as opposed to containing them within spoiler boxes.
Doesn't that kind of defeat the secondary purpose of having spoiler tags? It was the reason I suggested them in the first place.
No. It doesn't. Spoilers were introduced more for the entertainment threads where things could be spoiled. The reason they're not being introduced on this thread for images is because the images can stack, and it could affect loading time. Thereby defeating the whole purpose of having an image size regulation. Honestly it's not that difficult to post a link. I don't see what the big issue about the whole link thing is. You still have to upload a picture. It's just under a different tag.
I always thought the purpose of the image size requirement was to prevent people with small monitors from having to scroll around a bunch. Still, a 640x480 image would only take 20% longer to load than a 500x500, so I'm not quite sure what the issue is.
My main complaint with linking to a different site is, well I have two of them:
1. With the new forums, links are no longer opened in a new window. This means after I click the link, I have to click the back button and scroll back down to where I was. I know I can hold the Ctrl button to open it, but it's still annoying.
2. Some of the image hosting sites (photobucket especially) are full of ads. I have adblock, but a lot of people don't. It would probably take more time to load the page with all the ads than it would for someone to just load a slightly oversize image.
Anyway, I can live with the requirement, but I don't quite see the point.
