Vroom Vroom!!

#1 Post by Jenna! »

So hey!
I got my permit today.
I got only one wrong on the test, out of 20, so it's like a 95!
I'm pretty proud of that because I took two tests online, and fail'd them both.
So when I was taking the test I was shaking like a leaf, but whatever.
I don't have my card yet, I have this paper thing, but in about two weeks I'll get it in the mail with my picture on it and everything.

My mum has let me drive around in parking lots a little and from like my bus stop to my house, which is like a half a mile and not on any main roads.
It excites me to no end.
Driving is fun!

Still, she almost pooped her pants when I decided to go 8 miles an hour.

Ah I remember the first time I drove. The parking lots were...interesting. Just make sure you don't do what my friend did. He was driving in a parking lot, no light poles execpt the lone one on the OTHER SIDE of the lot. He managed to hit it. I laughed. :roflol:

Heh heh heh.. You might be able to afford the car, but I bet the insurance would be through-the-roof.

Driving frightens me, and I'm terrible at it. I've had my permit for nearly six months and haven't driven since driver's ed in September.

Yeah, I remember when I first learn to drive. I thought 5 miles/hour was fast (...but now, it's 120 MPH that's fast, yay for interstate!!)

The thing that bothers me most about this whole driving experience in general is waiting for 2-3 hours at the DPS office to get your license.

I am the queen of failing driver's tests. (Not temps, mind you--I passed that with an 80-something-%.)

1st- 46 points off. 1 automatic fail.
2nd- 21 points off. 2 automatic fails.
3rd- 20 points off. 1 automatic fail.
4th- 18 points off, actually passed. ^^;

I tell my friends they have nothing to worry about until they've failed more times than I have.

Yeah I used to think going 30 was fast. Now going 90 down the freeway (the same speed everyone else goes mind) is pretty nice. I had to go back to the DPS about 4 times to get my license. First I didn't have the right paperwork. Second my VOE expired the day before. Third my mom forgot the log and the fourth time I finally got my permit. The only questions I missed had to do with how much it costs if you drink and drive. I have no plans on doing that so I figured I didn't need to know :P.

A ferrari..Haha I have a new car and the insurence are through the roof (2007 mazda 3 and im 17), its $2500 per year. I can't even imagine a ferrari as a first car 0.o

Anyways. Have fun driving. I remember the first time i drove (i had an old beatup nissan sentra) and It was winter. I was in a parking lot and I basically slide the car around..My mom found it funny xD

In al seriousness the trick to driving is to relax =)

Congrats :) I got my P's (where we can drive by ourselves) in January. The boys (a group of my uni friends) like to constantly pay me out about my parking efforts. I can park perfectly well, but when there's a gap of 10 car parks in a row, sometimes I just can't be bothered XD

One problem is that I was up in NSW, and the cops there are very light - there's barely any around. Between where I lived, and Penrith, where the closest major shopping area was (45 minutes roughly), there was one speed camera. Except it was fixed. And everyone knew where it was. And there were 3 whopping big signs telling you about the camera - if you got caught speeding there, you deserved it...

I'd be going down the mountains at 120km/h, in an 80 zone, haha. It's a huge shock now I'm back in Melbourne and I actually have to follow the speed limit.. I keep going faster then realising I'm in another state -.-
Gone, forever.

Today I drove in my dads car as I've been trying out my moms. And to park I accidently hit the curb and scratched his brand new car slightly. And he screamed at me like crazy like I tried to do it on purpose so I went into pizza hut's bathroom and cried hysterically.
So how was your day?

Nice job on that! I failed my permit test.. twice. Third times a charm, right? I passed the drivers test first go though. Been driving for what.. 2 years? I hate driving. It was cool when you first start doing it.. but after a while it gets old. Weird that they mail you your permit. Our DMV takes your picture and prints out the ID within a few minutes.

My mom starts wailing in Spanish and invoking the names of the saints when I go the speed limit.

Yeah. I don't offer to drive her around much anymore.
