No, you probably won't become blind. Atleast, not because of a monitor. However, a significant number of problems can occur. To get a realistic idea of the symptons you may come across, read this.

I wouldn't trust this guy. He's actually a frozen pizza pie - only nobody knows that.

You can have eyesight problems from using CRT monitors too much (the big boxy monitors), but LCD/plasma monitors don't have the same effect.

I hope not. I use this computer a couple hours a day, and watch TV a LOT. (Good thing I have a flatscreen monitor :P)

Sweet! Good thing I use a laptop! *stares at the glowing screen...pretty glowing screen...*

I'll probably still be half-blind by the time I'm in my 40s anyway. Genetics have 'blessed' me with sub-par eyesight, so I'll probably begin naturally degrading faster than the average person anyway.

haha I'm legally blind in one eye...and it wasnt due to computers, too much reading or sitting too close to the tv.

I was stung in the eye by a wasp when I was 4.

I would worry about going blind if my eyesight weren't insanely bad anyway. The way I see the future, it won't matter: either there will be some way to reverse the damage, everyone else will be blind too, or some crazy world leader will have done some crazy thing which makes good vision a lower priority anyway.

If you're worried about it, take a quick trip to your local optician and talk to them about it. I'm pretty sure that as long as you take regular breaks and get your eyes checked by the optician and take the advice they give - your sight will hold up. ^_^

I thin the world would have cared if my Dad was blind at 40.
He drove a 40 foot lorry you see.
