*Has ideas of using this as an excuse to write my D&D backstory out in full*

A wonderful tale of mad Deities, demons and traitorous Devils.

Just wondering... do you guys actually write out the story on a notebook, or do you type it in a document?

I've never handwritten anything for NaNoWriMo before, but I'll probably have to this year. I'm going on a rafting trip at the beginning of the month, and I don't want my wordcount to be zero for that whole weekend. I'll probably wind up transferring it to my computer at the point during week 2 when I hate my novel and don't want to really write anything.
The trick is to keep writing about something which excites you. if you find yourself getting bored, throw something random in to make it interesting.

Yeah, the Dares thread has saved me many times. I'm not really sure why I thought it was a good idea to put a thinly-veiled superhero version of Oscar the Grouch in my 2005 NaNovel, but it probably wouldn't have been finished otherwise. :)

Still, I think that the low point is a bit inevitable--unless you're lucky enough that the honeymoon phase of your NaNo goes straight into the point where you're writing effortlessly. If you are, I salute and envy you!
