I've been having this same problem. I do a lot of work on the computer for my classes and I just can't stay focused. I even chat during class... what I do is write down every thing that I have to do and check it off as I do it. I sort things based on necessity and do it in that order. Sometimes I deliberately disable my Internet access so I'm not tempted.

I just make myself read for 15 minutes. I can get a surprising amount read in 15 minutes of work--and if I actually get into it, I wind up getting even more done in an hour. 15 minutes is nothing, really; I spend that much time waiting to get my lunch. Might as well use it for studying.

While it hasn't always worked perfectly, I never wind up staying up past 1 AM the night before the test studying.

i find that the best way to just study is to get someone to take your computer/laptop away from you. Give it to a friend for the day or something so that you can go study in a quiet place where there is no internet or anyone else to bug you.

I read, write, paint, and just about do anything when i dont have any internet on me.

I partially tear a ligament in my knee, have to be off college for two weeks and stop the practical side of my course for a month.

I've got more work done now than ever. Kind of depressing really.

I convince myself that although every second is going to be painful (because I'm not motivated) I only need to suffer for x amount of time and then I'll be fine again.

I always set deadlines on when I'm allowed to do certain things and if I'm really craving an Internet fix I promise myself that I'll finish xyz chapters/lectures before I go online and then I limit the amount of time too.

Otherwise, if all that fails, I just sort of cruise along until I reach the point in time when I freak out because I realise I've got no time left anymore and then I do some work.

Think of it this way, if you get the work done now, you'll have more time to proscratinate later...um.

The word you're probably desperately looking for is Dutch. :)

See, even "procrastination" can be productive!

No no no. Not Dutch. We don't say Dutch.

Well, aside from the occasional oekaki picture, I've been doing nothing BUT working on projects and studying. I don't know how to give you any advice because it works differently for everyone. But hey, if you assassinate my Typography professor for me, I'll sit your exams for you.

Christopher's approach is most similar to mine. Because I fully intend to keep up with my TV shows, I make sure to get as much as humanly possible done before my shows air. Since I have shows on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, it's not bad. And since I have my one-hour breaks planned, I don't overwork myself while studying.

So my solution? Get addicted to a few TV shows. :) (Realistically, just plan exactly when you're taking your breaks, then work towards them.)

Or learn to multi task like a Divine being.
*Can happily read, watch TV, listen to music and write out D&D stats simultaneously*

Although I must say this has lead to a fair bit of Tip-exxing on said stats.
