It's been a few years since Neopets introduced its referral feature - and I was thinking what if neopets had a referral contest? Surely the internet has evolved over the years, and there could be some great rewards. What do you guys think?

Moved to Neopets Pol...aww darn it. This is why one should not come home from work and then try to do stuff. *hides the fact that he moved this topic to the wrong place from mocking eyes*

Neopets already has a referral contest, unless this kind of thing isn't what you mean...

Do you know how to read? I'm talking a full blooded contest - a monthly contest; user that refers the most, etc.

I don't see why not.
They gain something from all the people that are getting referred to the site - so why shouldn't the people who do that for them receive something, that isn't just usable on the site, in return?

It would get people to try harder, if anything.

God no. Imagine how much cheating would go on. TNT already allows you to 'refer' people who already play and are just making a side account. IMO the prizes they give out now are fine, maybe they could be adjusted a bit to match the economy, but no more.

No where in your original post did you state "monthly contest" you simply said contest. There was absolutely no reason to be that rude.

You do, however, have to respect every other member of PPT. And when I say respect, I mean respect their right to have their say just as you have the right to yours.

I wasn't trying to be rude. I was simply stating something. A referral contest isn't exactly what neopets' current system offers. A contest is when the whole user base participates.

I think it's a bad idea. Sure, there would be a few new members who signed up, but I think it would encourage people to sign up six or seven or twelve or even a hundred times.

It's easy to be rude without trying. I speak from experience here.

I can imagine that there would be a lot of fake accounts made, but also a lot of legit accounts. So I am kind of neutral.
