:D This is the first time that I can remember a paintbrush at the advent calendar. I think its nice that new players can paint a pet now. When I first started playing I found a Christmas paintbrush playing cliffhanger. I really enjoyed my Christmas myncie until I could afford another brush. The neoteam did say something about using the advent calendar to deflate the cost of some items. They meant what they said. :D

If i'm not making it up, i think they gave out a christmas petpet paintbrush one year...

I know they've given Snow and Plushie - can't remember about Christmas though..

This is just like when 100 Dub coins are Tarla'd, except a lot more are being given out over a longer period. Only about 50k right now. Wish I had SSW right now, there's a lot of 1np ones for sale.

XD My Bori is only wearing one shoe! He is Ice so you can see through him to the other side, and you can tell his other shoe just isn't there. :P

I don't think I'll be painting any of my pets Christmas. As said, I have an Ice Bori so that's festive enough for me. I like the colors of my other pets. ^^;

Woo hoo! I think this paint brush is the best present that's ever been given out from the Advent Calendar. Thank you TNT!

When I first saw the paint brush, I was like 'Wow', but after I thought about it, I think it is too generous and I am a little angry about TNT giving it away.

With all the wearables this year being given out, why give out a paint brush knowing that the value will drop dramatically. I still think paint brushes should be a 'work for it' item. The paint brush is very valuable as a TP item and I collect them for the purpose of using them that way.

Now in a couple of weeks I have seen the value of the Cloud Paint Brush drop and now the Christmas Paint Brush - which is more valuable because you can get clothes from it.

The cynic in me also worries that this is going to be the trend - TNT deflating all the good items so it makes it more of a level playing field.

Paint brushes are valuable and should be kept valuable, otherwise what is the point in them? If anyone can afford one then where is the specialness of it?

The cynic in me also sees the only way to have a unique pet is to pay for NC Mall items.

Christmas paint brushes were given away in 2000 and christmas petpet paint brushes were given away in 2002. I really dont think its a big deal because anybody willing to refresh at the advent calender can get one.

I am pleased to get the paintbrush.

I'll have to think about whether paintbrushes should be expensive and rare. I don't really think they need to be. Why not let people paint their pets as they wish. Unless the objective is to remove NP from the game, which it could be.

Maybe the price will rise again.

The fact that you have to refresh in Terror Mountain for ANY Winter Random Event is a little different to TNT just giving them away. No-one is guaranteed a brush - also you are still working for it, albeit in a very easy way.

Maybe I shouldn't be negative - TNT have been so spot-on with all the wearables, but it has effected my game play (a little) and I really feel this is the beginning of something bigger.

Not all paint brushes are, but we still need to have some difference between them. The idea of making NP's is so you can afford those things you want. To have a painted pet is still desireable, so if you really want it, then work for it.

That is what drew me into Neo - the fact you have to put effort into making a good account, nice pets, trophies etc. To have Neo take it away piecemeal takes away some of the pleasure in having nice pets and an aged account. Anyone could have the same pets and the same amount of nps just by TNT giving away items (Tarla as well as AC).

I don't think it will become a NP free site - but the value is certainly dropping.

Heh, very true. I made it to my first million doing that. Of course, that was several years back, when they were just under 100k, but still. It only took a couple weeks of patiently refreshing for a bit each day.

I think some p/b's should be more expensive and rare. However, one would think that the Royal p/b would be the most expensive (it being Royal and all), but others are more than double that price. It's one thing for the price to be high, but to keep rising at the rate some of them are going is very discouraging to new players. For instance, a friend of mine really wanted a Pirate p/b, which was at 2.5 mil when she started. She just recently got to 2 mil (she's been saving every np she can), and now it's at 5 mil. She's pretty much given up hope that she'll ever be able to catch up to earning with the inflation enough to get one.
I don't think TNT intended for paint brush prices to get quite this far out of hand when they started the customization feature - it was an unexpected side effect. With them releasing p/b's through Tarla and now advent, they are helping to combat this and hopefully stabilize the market some. I don't expect we'll ever see Pirate or Maraquan p/b's given out in this fashion (or likely any way other than they are right now).

All that being said, even though I've lost np from not selling the one I found last week, I'm still happy they're giving them out.
Plus, didn't I wish for a p/b during the advent calendar? (okay, so it still would have been cooler if different people got different ones). But still, a cloud and a Christmas within the first couple weeks - I can't complain! :D

Edit: Makes you wonder what they'll give out in the next week... ;)

Seeing as I already have a chistmas paint brush in my gallery, it's just a quick way to make 40k. ;)

I really want TNT to make a christmas krawk this year. They can make it look like gingerbread, but have the pieces be removable. So the basic coat color would be tannish, and then it would have all these pieces of candy stuck to it, but you could take those off and then your krawk would just look tan.

I have no problem with the Christmas Paint Brush being given out, it's one of the least desirable colors for 11/12ths of the year, and considerably higher during this current 1/12th. TNT says "Merry Christmas, Neopians!" Neopians say "Bah humbug!"

As for new players getting valuable items: They ain't valuable anymore! lol. Besides, when I was new I would only log on every few days, and I probably would have been oblivious to the advent calendar existing. So there are plenty of new players who are still dirt poor, for those who may have had a heaping bowl of elitism this morning. :P

Edit: This wasn't aimed at anyone here, just some thoughts that came out while reading the boards.

I always thought the christmas paintbrush was one of the cheaper ones anyways? Of course, the last time I looked was ages ago...lol (now that I think about it, it was probably around the time they gave it out last time ;))
