OKay so far i think there is only one thing I can agree on with some others and that is don't try to solve it from the first symbol try to solve it from the last..... because somehow it does make a difference..... also more then one combination for your last symbol may work.... just throwing that out there.

Of course it depends on your key. That was why I included it in my question.
In all my 2 modifier puzzles, in any position, a key of V + a modifier of V + a modifier of V gave a result of X
and so forth through the combinations.
I was lucky enough that there was a V in all my puzzles, so that's the only one I did a full search with.

Also on my 2 modifier puzzles, the order of the 3 elements in interchangable, so
V+V+C=V and V+C+V=V and C+V+V=V

(NOTE: there are occasional graphic glitches. Just remove and replace a modifier, and it will reset so it looks right)

Does anyone else match my results so far?

sorry, I realized that later. I just got some REALLY bad news and am doing this to keep my mind off of it right now, apparently it's not quite working.

There's definitely no carrying. It's the same code for me from the 1 to the 2 to the 3- modifier puzzles (but of course you're adding a lot more stuff). For example, X+8=0 (meaning X+8+L=L, for example) regardless of the number of modifiers.

Yep, you're right. It's best to find the ones that "zero out."

I got the patterns to work for 1-modifer and 2-modifier, but the 3-modifier ones seems completely random; the same exact modifiers give different answers! Anyone else having that problem? Maybe we can't solve them yet . . . thoughts?

And how do you do "addition" when the modifiers are variable digits (1-5)? My brain hurts.

It's happening to me, also. it seems to help a litte when I go back to the inbox and start again, but this is going to take forever :(

Gahhh, now it just seems worse. I'm hoping that there is some error in TNT's "calculator" and it will be fixed tomorrow

Hey you "and 120 guests" that are lurking at this very moment...why don't you register and join us here in figuring out the puzzle. :battar:

Ugh, I can't get a single 3-modifier one. Then again, I've only worked on two of them so far, but they're incredibly frustrating. Even more frustrating than water distribution plants and scroll searching (ah, those were the days).

Gods I hate these 3-modifier ones!

I can't work out a system. The symbols change every time even if I put in the same 3 modifiers.

Solved all my 2 modifier ones.

now to try the 3 modifiers.

(how I did it: I made a table of all the combinations that started with the V_ symbol,
and determined that there are only 3 possible combinations for a leading V_ for each result. on each puzzel I had a V_ in the key somewhere, so I just worked on that position, trying all the key combinations that would work. This eliminated *many* possibilities, so it was easy to sort through.)

Question: do we all have different combinations in addition to different puzzles?
If everyone has the same, then we can come up with an master table of possibilities.

It almost matches mine. In common with you, I have:
V,V,V=X
V,V,C=V
V,V,C=V
V,X,8=V
V,8,8=P
V,P,C=P
V,C,8=8

However, I have one that is different from you. I have: V,C,X=X, and you have V,C,X=8
It could be that one of us made a slight mistake on that, however.

Of course, make a key ONLY works for 1-modifier and 2-modifier puzzles. When it comes to 3-modifier puzzles, the results appear completely random.

I've found this is the case if one of the modifiers has three symbols, another has four, and the third has one, or some other combination like that. For example:

XCF
FG
+I
AAA

But

X
IH
+FERR
QAT

The ones that say Incomplete Data will give you random answers, even if you put three of the same in. The ones that don't can be solved by logic... but I haven't been able to do that yet.

Has anyone solved a 3 modifier puzzle? I'm not looking for answers. It's just frustrating that I get a different answer every time I put the same codes in.

Hmm really? I assumed they all said that. Maybe we just need more of something????? (Hoping it will be something we find SOON)

Currently, I am just doing random guessing because I cannot solve any 2 or 3 modifiers :x

I do believe that we're only supposed to attempt certain 3-modifier puzzles after solving all the 2-mods. Some of my 3-mods gave me different answers even if I used the same 3 symbol sets, but others gave me the same answer every time.

Not that I've solved a 3-mod yet, mind you. :x There's got to be some kind of secret to all this, I just haven't found it yet.
