no idea if this is true but this is what is said on the neoboards for the placement

put the first hole on 0,0.
Under the hole, a number will appear (X)
For the second hole, place it at 0, x
Another number will appear (y)
place the third hole at x,y

i dont know if you have to put on on 0 and i havent been able to test it really because i keep getting kicked also if the number is over 400 they say subtract 400 but i dont know if that is true either someone feel free to test!

I can get to the third grav test but we all fail whats the trick?

I have a theory.
I was able to do it from 0,0, take the first number given (we'll call it "A"), and go to 0, A. Then taking the second number (we'll call it "B"), and going to B, A for the third.
However, when my husband (who's in the same room as me) tried the same thing from 0,0 at the same time, it failed for at least one of us.

When I started from 400, 400 and did the same thing except SUBTRACTING the number instead of adding it, IE, first was at 400, 400, second was at 400, (400-A), third was at (400-B), (400-A), and my husband started from 0, 0, we BOTH got correct 3rd locations.

Where am I going with this?
I have this dreadful feeling that we each need to start from a different corner and do something similar.

I'm testing that right now, ruby. The first time worked for me, but I'm trying again to confirm.

It must matter somewhat since I had gotten it wrong a couple of times before I got it right the 2nd time (probably just most places work). Have you gotten it a third time yet?

I got it. Place your first one at 0,0. A number appears under it. Move your second to that x coordinate. Your y coordinate is the second number that appears.

This is not right; the two numbers you get are the distances to the correct location for your third point. You should put the first two points in two useful locations, such that you can solve for the position of the third point. I'll follow up with the actual equations in a little bit...

There's probably a formula to those two, but to my knowledge, nobody's figured it out yet.

Here's how you do the grav one.

put the first hole at 0,0. the resulting number is $a
put the second hole at 400,0 the resulting number is $b

here's the math to find the x,y to place the third one at:

$x = ($a*$a - $b*$b + 160000)/800;
$y = sqrt(abs($a*$a - $x*$x));

you need to get within +-5 of each of those numbers.

BTW: 246 finished :D
