Nah, still wouldn't be abusive unless attaching a petpet as a petpet is abusive for those same reasons :)

The fifth neopet slot is probably the best idea though, really, since their original reasoning was that a fifth slot would be a strain on the database with so many thousands of inactive accounts already taking up space. Players who actually play should be allowed another pet, a nice round number :)

As far as pets and colours go, I think perhaps 'exclusive' painting might be an idea. With that I mean being able to paint your pet in a colour that normally can't (yet), for example the zombie colour. I'm not sure if every species can be painted by it (I thought it was just a few right now), but with the veteran reward it would be.

This is under the assumption that TNT will release the colours for other species eventually, so other players aren't at a disadvantage; it will just take them a bit longer (also a nice 'incentive programme' to keep playing Neopets).

Also, as far as being a 'veteran player' goes, how old should an account be to be eligible for it?

I think, say, once you log on 500 days for at least 5 min. each day you'd get 1 token. And then at 700 days, you'd get another one. You could trade them in at a special shop to get some of the rewards listed here.

I like the idea of the special token shop and the fifth pet spot. :)

Well, the official reason for attaching petpets is fun. But now I'm just picking nits.

Me too. The tokens provide flexibility.

I REALLY like the idea of a fifth pet! I've been submitting it as a suggestion every once in awhile for the past five years, with no luck. I think it makes perfect sense to have it as a reward after being a member for a year. A year isn't that long, but should weed out the scammers. Also, I really hope TNT follows through with their plan to delete counts after two years of inactivity. Long-term and active users should be rewarded.

Perhaps this would be good way to implement the NeoSchool. Year 1 players could start in Kindergarten and graduating to another year of Neopets would unlock another grade. Older players could opt to start in Kindergarten or "skip a grade." Higher grades and better marks would award more intelligence.

Awww, who wouldn't want a Mellish plushie?

No. Just please no. It would cheapen the lab map's non-Neopoint value. Right now, pride and a feeling of heightened status come with getting the lab map. Give that to anyone over a certain age--even if that age is six or seven years--and it loses that value.

Isn't that a little....snooty? Status is such an abstract concept, and I don't see how "status" can make a difference here. The lab ray is just a tool. Back in the day, it was only worth 30,000 neopoints anyway.

Geeze, type in Secret Lab Ray map or w/e into the Shop Wizard and you can find it now for only 20,000 NPS

Am I wrong in assuming that people playing for say, 5 or 6 or 7 years pretty consistently probably already have the lab ray if they want it?

I think some kind of sidebar or lutri bead type thing that increases random events or something along those lines would be neat.

I'd like to see some sort of token reward system for long time players too. Everyone would get a token when playing for a certain time, say the first token when playing 6 months, the next when playing 1 year etc. These tokens can be traded in a special token shop. The longer you play, the more valuable the tokens are/the more points they're worth. The tokens shouldn't be saleable. You could save up for a colour change (TNT said they wanted to do something about the inflation of paint brushes), an item, a special battledome ability, stuff like that.

I like this idea, especially if the tokens gave you the option to "buy" stats for your pet. If you chose to purchase this option, it would increase your pet's Str, Def, Movement, and Level by 1 point :P I, as well as many other players who pay 70k+ for 1 stat, would love this idea.

Best idea so far, in my opinion.

I'm relatively medium-levelled stats, but I don't really want to invest in the Training School, due to the insane costs. That, and I'm dreadfully unbalanced.

Perhaps a level (or stat) upgrade for your Neopet every year - for example:

1 Year of Active Playing = 1 Level Up
2 Years Of Active Playing = 2 Levels Up
3 Years of Active Playing = 3 Levels Up

and so on.
