Okay, I can't decide what I am going to wear for my psychology party, which is on April 16th. I have to wear something that is related to the syllabus and I can't think of any ideas. Can anybody help? I am going to copy+paste the invite email so that you can have a look at what I need to do.

Calling all lovverly Year 11s

To say a fond farewell to year 11 Psychology you are cordially invited to an
afternoon of Freudiantomfoolery, Piagetianpartying, BombasticBaddleying and more!! -
see above.

Do you know your attachments from your separations?
How are your perceptual sets?
Can you tell a CR from a CS?
Do you know your retrointerference from your pro?

Engage your cognitive processes (or have a flick through your text book) to decide
on a fancy dress outfit of such STUPENDOUS and GARGANTUAN proportions that you and
your friends will never ever forget what aspect of the psychology syllabus it
represents. IMPORTANT - people remember things most when they are out of the
ordinary, make you laugh (emotionally resonant) and slightly batty.

You could come as McGarrigle's naughty teddy, or Piaget's pendulum. How about a
Skinner pigeon or a Bobo Doll? Or why not just dress up as Milgram's electric shock
experiment? Easy!

There will be a FANTASTIC prize for the best outfit and we will be taking a few photos.

You can work as a pair or team.

This is a compulsory part of your course. It is not optional... :)

Look forward to seeing you then (and before!) chaps.

Thanks

In college, one of my acquaintances dressed as a Freudian slip for Halloween. She came in a slip on which she had pinned various examples of Freudian slips. Having never taken psych, I'm not 100% sure. Maybe an Oedipus complex -- but the "complex" looks like Thebes (or wherever Oedipus was from)? How good are you at papier maché?

Blue graffitied on my signature... But it made me laugh, so it's all good!

No Siniri, I don't really like paper mache. I used to do that in Art but since Art is one of my worst subjects, I dropped it at GCSE. I like your oedipus complex idea but it is quite hard to find any clothes to suit the theme and it is quite unnatural to act it out.

What if I wore a lab coat to the party? Is this a good idea? I would act like Stanley Milgrim in his 'electric shock' learning experiment. Tell me what you think.

That's the one, phrenology!

You could do it either seriously how they actually did it or do it silly and make up your own things.

Do Pavlov's dogs count? Or, the chimpanzees they used to demonstrate that they have a self-consciousness. Here's a summary of that:

Quote:
After prolonged exposure to their reflected images in mirrors, chimpanzees, marked with red dye, showed evidence of being able to recognize their own reflections. Monkeys did not appear to have this capacity.

The study is called "Self-recognition in chimpanzees and man" by Gordon Gallup. It is also known as "The Mirror Test."

If you have a friend to do it with, one of you could be a mirror with an image of a chimp, and the other person could be the chimp (red dot on the forehead) ;)

Wow thanks, angisfab!! That's an excellent idea!!! I think I am going to dress up all black and make weird chimp noises. Anyways, must tell my friend this, see what he thinks about it. ;)
