My pet just got fiery roar. I see that it says level 1. But when I look at the list of abilities, it says "level" along the left hand column and has fiery roar next to level 3.

I'd appreciate if someone would tell me what this means?

Also, for a ability to be used, I think you have to select it during a battle, and it uses up some lifeforce or something like that? So then having an ability doesn't help the pet unless it is selected?

It took me a couple minutes to figure this out, but here's what you're seeing.

Underneath Fiery Roar, it should say "Level 1", correct? As of right now, that doesn't really mean anything as levels (as far as I know) don't do anything in the Battledome. The level that you're seeing in the list of abilities, like if you look up all of the Fire abilities, is the level that your pet must be at in order to receive that ability from a bottled faerie.

In the Battledome, to use an ability, you have to have it activated, but only eight abilities can be activated at once. To activate your abiliites, do the following:

1. Go to your Quick-Ref page
2. For the pet you're battling with, click the little white triangle next to their picture and select "View Abilities".
3. This will take you to a page showing all of the abilities your pet has. To activate one, simply click on it. Active abilities will be animated while inactive abilities will be still and faded in color.

In the Battledome, you'll be able to selected your activated abilities in the drop-down menu and then you'll be able to indicate the strength of the ability. The level of strength you use determines how much your power you lose.

OHhhhhh! Thank you, May! I understand now. I didn't know that we could activate 8 abilities either.
